David Richard Bursiel, 57, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018, in Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Fla., after a hemorrhagic stroke on March 12.
He was born Feb. 16, 1961, in Sandusky, to Nellie Jane Bursiel and Richard E. Bursiel. He grew up in Huron Township with his sister, Patricia Bursiel, his brothers Robert Bursiel and the late Christopher Bursiel.
David graduated Huron High School in 1979 and continued his education at Firelands College and Bowling Green State University from 1979 thru 1985. He was employed at Cedar Point as a ride host, area supervisor and computer programmer from 1979 thru 1989. Dave wrote software for American Risk Management in Independence, Ohio, Longaberger Baskets in Dresden, Ohio, JM Family Enterprises, and CTI (now Ceva Logistics) both located in Jacksonville, Fla. He programmed at Landstar Systems Inc. for 19 years. He was a team lead for their Jacksonville office.
David and his wife Jennifer celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary in October 2017. He is survived by his wife; sons, Marc and Michael Bursiel; daughter, Marcella Bursiel; sister Patricia Bursiel; brother, Robert Bursiel; and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Bursiel; sister, Deborah Bursiel; and his parents.
David was fascinated by Walt Disney World, enjoying frequent visits to the resorts and parks. He excelled at gardening and landscaping. He particularly relished spending his time reading and watching science fiction and fantasy media. He recently spoke of how he missed being able to listen to his favorite music.
David volunteered with the Boys Scouts of America, North Florida Council Pack and Troop 276, as a Den Leader and adult instructor.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Huron at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Foster Funeral Home and Crematory, 410 Main St. Huron.
