Edward Michael Bogden, 99, of Huron, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the Stein Hospice Facility, Sandusky.
He was born June 19, 1919, in New Philadelphia, PA and has been a resident of Huron for the past 56 years.
He was a graduate of St. Rita's High School, Detroit, Michigan where he was a 3 sport letterman in football, basketball and tennis. He graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by the Ford Motor Company and worked in various Ford plants in the Detroit area. He retired from his position as manufacturing and engineering manager at the Sandusky Ford plant in 1986 after 40 years of employment with the same company.
He was a US Army/Air Force Veteran and served during WWII.
He was a beloved spouse, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, friend, adviser and provider. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron and past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an accomplished golfer and a skilled handyman. He enjoyed investing, following the stock market and working with his computer. His greatest joys were his family and his faith. He always looked forward to being with his family whether it was family gatherings or supporting his children and grandchildren in their many and various activities.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Blizinski), of 69 years; a daughter, Janet (Pete) Henning of Sandusky; four sons, Kenneth (Deb) Bogden of Huron, Daniel (Laura) Bogden of Reno Nevada, James (Melanie) Bogden of Huron, and Timothy Bogden of Huron; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Horton of Detroit, MI; and brother, Raymond (Elaine) Bogden of Detroit MI.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Veronica (Kodis) Bogden; and brothers, Carl and Robert Bogden.
Friends may call Friday, January 4th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at St. Peter Church Gathering Space, 430 Main St, Huron. A mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. following the viewing at St. Peter Catholic Church by Rev. Jeffrey McBeth. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. .
