Dorothy Clara Bogden, 94, of Huron, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
She was born on April 5, 1924, in Detroit Michigan and has been a resident of Huron for the past 56 years. Dorothy was a graduate of Rosary High School in Detroit. She then went to work at Michigan Bell as a telephone operator. After she met and married the love of her life, Edward, on August 6, 1949, at St. John Berchman Church, she devoted her life to raising her family.
She was a beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, a whiz in the kitchen and a guiding light for her family. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and past member of the Altar Society. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and visited several countries in Europe and spent much time vacationing on Anna Maria Island in Florida during their retirement years. Her greatest joys were her family and her faith. She was a loyal attendee at the many events and activities for her children and grandchildren and always provided encouragement, support, guidance and love. More than anything, she looked forward to being with her family. Her cooking and baking skills were unmatched and she delighted in providing her family her special meals and desserts ranging from home-made kielbasatospecial Polish cookies.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Pete) Henning of Sandusky; four sons, Kenneth (Deb) Bogden of Huron, Daniel (Laura) Bogden of Reno, NV, James (Melanie) Bogden of Huron, and Timothy Bogden of Huron; 14 grandchildren: Zach Henning, Jess Henning, Briana Omameh, Steph Armbruster, Elizabeth Dennings, Michael Bogden, Erica Price, David Price, Kyle Bogden, Joe Bogden, Tom Bogden, Caleb Balduff, Keily Balduff, Keeton Balduff; 10 great-children; sister in laws, Darlette Velickovic of Shelby Township, MI, Doris Horton of Royal Oak, MI; and brother in law Raymond (Elaine) Bogden of Warren, MI.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Edward; her parents: Francis and Virginia (Wasik) Blizinski; her sister, Virginia; and brothers: Raymond, Francis, Robert, Donald, and Thomas.
Friends may call Saturday, Feb 2nd, from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., at Foster Funeral Home and Crematory, 410 Main Street, Huron. Following the viewing, a funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main Street, Huron, by Rev. Jeffrey McBeth.
Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.
