Mrs. Sophia Mahler Bateman, 72, a resident of Washington Street.

Surviving are five daughters, Caroline, at home; Mrs. Charles Eisenhauer and Mrs. Luther Kuns, both of Castalia and Mrs. Irvin Weis and Mrs. John Kessler, Jr., both of Sandusky; three sons, Carl and Parker, at home, and Francis, both of Castalia; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dennis Bunn, Grand Rapids, Mich., and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on March 22, 1942 and a son and daughter.

Friends may call at the Frey Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, the Rev. C.J. Renner, officiating.

Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
