Lois Patrice (Sykora) Babich

December 30, 1939 ~ March 11, 2019

Lois P. (Sykora) Babich, 79, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Monday evening, March 11, 2019, at home with her family at her side after a lengthy illness.

Born on December 30, 1939, in Cleveland, OH the daughter of Edward John and Leonarda Antoinette (Pekarek) Sykora. She was a 1957 graduate of Notre Dame High School and a graduate of Notre Dame College in 1961.

Her passion in life was her love of God, caring for her family and teaching music. Lois had taught piano lessons for over 50 years. She will be remembered by her family for how she enjoyed cooking and trying different types of recipes, but how she especially loved to bake all sorts of treats.

Lois was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister, distributing communion to shut-ins at their homes and visiting those residing at our local nursing homes; and for many years she had been a member of the Piano Guild.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Eugene B. "Gene" Babich, whom she married on October 7, 1961; two daughters, Carolyn (Mark) Switala of Plymouth, MI and Mary Pat (Joe) Grespin of Huron; a son, Jeff Babich of Pittsburgh, PA; 5 grandchildren and a great-grandson; a brother, Robert J. (Carol) Sykora of Brecksville; and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Krysanne L. Babich (1966).

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019, from 3-7 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning, March 16, 2019, at 10 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Monte Hoyles officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery Columbarium.
