Edward "Andy" Andrzejczyk, 79, of Huron, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
He was born Feb 26, 1939 in New Britain, CT where he attended the neighborhood Sacred Heart School. He graduated from Mount St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket, RI in the top ten percent of his class earning membership in the Rhode Island Honor Society. He earned a BS degree in business with a minor in Industrial Production at the Univ. of Hartford in CT. He continued his education with certificates from the Industrial Engineering Institute in Atlanta, GA and Strategic Business Management from the Wharton School at the University of PA.
He was employed by the former New Departure-Hyatt Division of General Motors, first in Bristol CT and later in the Division's Headquarter offices in Sandusky, OH. His various positions ranged from floor production supervisor, new product process and cost estimator, facilities engineer, and finally retiring after 30 years as Sr. Industrial Engineer in 1992 at the age of 53.
Ed always enjoyed working around his home taking pride in its lawn and trimmed ornamentals. He assisted his wife in her numerous flower beds when she required his help in mulching or transplanting. He enjoyed photography from an early age and maintained his own darkroom. His favorite subjects were scenes which he collected from the Rocky Mts. To the Caribbean Islands during their many travels. He also earned a diploma in Professional Photography, a certificate from the Nikon School of Photography and was a member of the Associated Photographers International. His photos and related essays were published in many countries.
He also enjoyed handgun and rifle shooting, favoring the 300 yard range at which he was fairly proficient. He was an NRA Certified Instructor teaching handgun handling and CCL classes for many years.
Ed was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron and previously served as a lay distributor and a volunteer plant facilities engineer for all their buildings, overseeing the operations and energy management of their systems. He was currently a member of the Marine Corp League, American Legion, and the Erie County Conservation League.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Haley); son Ken (Denise); grandsons, Ryan, Chad, Kyle all of Canton; a sister, Angela (Michael) Bianco of Belleview; and a nephew, Kevin Bianco of Sandusky.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sophie (Kopowsky) Andrzejczyk.
Friends may call Saturday, July 21st from 10 a.m. until a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. at St Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St, Huron, with Father Gerald Ceranowski officiating.
