Mary Eleanor THOMAS [b. 28 OCT 1848], daughter of William Boyd THOMAS and Catherine ANDREWS, lost her mother at age 7 [8 Sep 1856], just as her husband Martin SAUM did sometime in 1850.
Her father remarried Sarah A. CROSBY [2 Oct 1860 - in William THOMAS' Family Bible, publ. 1850]; although she is said to be Sarah A. SHAFER, the daughter of Peter SHAFER and Lydia A. MILLS in the History of Butler County [p.620].
She married Martin SAUM [30 Jul 1865], and had 7 sons 6 of whom were born in Butler County [see Martin SAUM's query];
Mary's obituary states; "In December 18, 1869, death entered the family circle and took the eldest son, age about 3 years, and in a short time another of their sons passed away." [Any suggestions on how to find some information on this 2nd child?]
Mary's obituary [d. 25 Jan 1931 at age 82] also reads: "Early in life she confessed her faith in Christ and placed her membership with the Church of Christ and has been identified with the restoration movement for more than 61 years [c.1870?, possibly soon after the loss of her eldest son, William C, SAUM], never losing confidence in her Lord, nor His holy Word." Any information on this "restoration movement" or Church of Christ activites in the Wayne or St. Clair Counties from 1870-1884 would be appreciated!

Thomas, which not only has Jacksonburg and the date, 1846 Aug written under his name, but also has on the front side of it the following: "Mehetibel THOMAS' Property, Hamilton, Nov 7, 1839? (year obscured and/or erased); perhaps this name was William Boyd THOMAS' grandfather, who moved to Butler County in 1800!

STOVER (Adam) Madison Township. From: - Allan Griffith (Dec 14, 2000)
Wishing to exchange information on the family of Adam STOVER & his wife Rebecca. Adam was on every census of Madison Twp.,Butler Co, from 1840 thru 1880. He raised several children there. There was an Adam Stover in Montgomery Co., 1820 & 1830 but I cannot figure out if that might be my Adam's father ? - Adam was born approx. 1811 in Ohio and Rebecca approx. 1817 in Penn. I cannot find evidence of their existence anyplace after the 1880 census and cannot find anything about when or where they died.
They had the following Stover children: Rosanna -b.1836, Daniel-1838, Elizabeth-1840, John-1846, Susanna 1850 & Laura J.-1858. I have tracked a few of their children. Daniel married Susan WOLFORD and moved to Douglas Co, Illinois by the late 1800s. Elizabeth became the 2nd wife of John WOOLFORD (WOLFORD). Any clues would be appreciated. I have some more information to share on Daniel & Elizabeth STOVER and their children.

WILLIAMS (Milo and Cora WILLIAMS) . From: - Dawna Kreis (Apr 22, 2001)
Looking for information about my great-grandmother and her family. She and my great-grandfather, Milo Fannin, were married on 27 Aug 1911. My grandmother, May Fannin, was born on 26 July 1912. Milo died on 7 Dec 1914 in Madison Co.. I am assuming that my great-grandmother reverted back to her maiden name of WILLIAMS. I found a listing in the Ohio Death Index of a Cora WILLIAMS passing in Butler Co., Ohio in the same year that I have been told she died - 1916. I have been told that the WILLIAMS family was from So. Ohio, but no specifics. Do not know if she returned home when Milo died because my grandmother was given to his family to raise.
Milo and Cora also had another daughter, "Millie" (Mildred?) that, I've heard, married a man by the name of Harold Smith.
I have also been told that Cora's father was Delbert Williams and mother, Nancetta Green, but have not confirmed this as of yet. Delbert also had a 1/2 sister (Dorcas) and brother (George).
Any resources or information about my great-grandmother's line you could help with would be greatly appreciated.

VAN HORN(E) (John C. and Malinda HINTON) Oxford Township http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kinfolkkorner. From: - Susan Strain (Jun 14, 2001)
I am looking for the family of John C. VAN HORN(E), born in 1808 in Oxford Twp.(?), in Butler County, Ohio. He married Malinda HINTON, a full-blood Sac and Fox lady, but that marriage might have taken place after John C. left Ohio. John C. VAN HORN(E) had six sons, scattered all along the trail west from Ohio . . . some born in Iowa, some in Missouri, some in Kansas. Kansas (Osawatomie, Miami Co.) is where the VAN HORN(E) family finally settled after leaving the wagon train along the Kansas/Nebraska border. According to Cutler's history of Kansas, the VAN HORN family came into Miami County, Kansas, about 1855. John C. VAN HORN(E) died in 1860. Malinda HINTON died in 1861. Only one son was "of age", the younger ones being assigned guardians. ANY help with the brothers and sisters, or naturally the parents of John C. VAN HORN(E) would be greatly appreciated.
RANDALL (Jonas and Mary GREGG) Hamilton, OH 1825-1835. From: - Elizabeth Randall (Jul 5, 2001)
I am researching the RANDALL and GREGG families in Preble and Butler Cos. My husband's ancestor was Jonas RANDALL (Jr.) who was born in 1801 in S.C. His parents were probably Jonas RANDALL and Sarah ROBERDS.
The eldest Jonas moved his family to Warren Co. around 1803 and then lived in Preble and Butler Cos.
Jonas (Jr.) was said to have married Mary GREGG around 1825 in Butler Co. They resided in Hamilton, OH until around 1835.
I am looking for information which will definitely link our Jonas (Jr.) to the Jonas and Sarah ROBERDS RANDALL family. I am also interested in information about the early marriage of Jonas (Jr.) and Mary GREGG. Supposedly, their first two sons, William Gregg RANDALL and James Webb RANDALL, were born in Butler Co. in 1826 and 1828.
Also, for any GREGG researchers, I am trying to find out who Mary GREGG lived with in Butler Co. She was from VA (parents were William and Elizabeth WEBB GREGG) but probably moved in with a GREGG relative in OH after the death of her mother. Her brother was William GREGG who was known as the "father of the textile industry in the south." He resided in S.C.
Thanks for any help.
