James RICHEY
submitted by Yolanda Campbell Lifter
On the 23d of April, 1918, James Richey reached the end of Life's journey at his home south of Hamersville on the Poetown pike. Born in Brown county, Ohio, near Pisgah, March 25, 1837, he had traveled through more than 81 years of life. He was industrious and frugal, a good neighbor and citizen, a kind and helpful friend, but his largest success in life was in moral worth and uprightness of character. The words of esteem and expressions of good will told of the impression for good he had made upon those who knew him, and this impression will remain long after he ceased from the labors and sorrows of life. April 1, 1862, he and Jane Brown were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. To them were born eight children, six of whom with the companion of these many years survive him. In his home he was kind and devoted to the interests of his home. In 1873 he united with the old Christian church at Pisgah, under the ministry of Rev. Charles Garoutte. Throughout the remainder of his life he lived a consecrated and consistent Christian. Besides his sorrowing wife and children, he is mourned by numerous other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were conducted in the Christian church at Hamersville at 1:30 Saturday afternoon, John G. Quinlan, of Georgetown, conducting the services. Interment was made in Confidence Cemetery, north of Georgetown.
