Rev. T. J. Bowman died at his home on Eagle Creek last Friday afternoon Dec. 29, 1905 after a short illness from brain trouble. The funeral was held at Hickory Ridge Church, Sunday afternoon, burial in the cemetery nearby.
Rev. T. J. Bowman was born in Huntington township, Brown county, Ohio,
in 1846, and was the son of Benjamin and Mary (McElwee) Bowman, old
settlers in the county. His early life was spent upon the farm, and the
same time he obtained a good practical education in the district
schools. In 1864, he enlisted in the 172 Regiment, of which he was a
Drum Major; he served 7 months and was honorably discharged in 1865. In
1878 , he entered the ministry of the Christian Church, in which he
labored as a minister until his ordination, which took place September
11, 1880, since when he has labored regularly in the Southern Ohio
Conference of the Christian Church. June 2, 1876 he was married to
Miss Abigail Bartley.
