Sallie Mary ANDREWS
submitted by Jim McCune
Sallie Mary Ellis Andrews was born Sept. 16 1853, in Pleasant Twp., Brown county, to John and Polly Wright Ellis. Death came Nov. 23, 1950, at her home.
She was united in marriage to Henry Andrews on May 24, 1874 and to this union were born six children. Mr. Andrews died in 1916, Mary B. and Sabina died as children and Matilda Bissantz passed away 20 years ago. Eva M.Armleder, John E. and William Henry still live as do two half brothers, Lee and Miller Ellis and their mother Mollie Ellis. There are 14 living grandchildren, a large number of great and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews living.
Henry and Mary moved early in their married life to the lovely home on the hill overlooking White Oak Creek and in this home they lived to enjoy the many years given them together. Here they raised their beloved children and to that joy was the added pleasure of seeing their grandchildren come over to romp over those hills.
Mary Andrews was a woman of great faith with a warm love for people and a vital interest in the affairs of home, family and friends. Her cordial welcome was known to all who called at her home and her quick wit and friendly smile sent the visitor away with a feeling of joy and well-being at having the opportunity of visiting with her. The depth of her willingness to respond to the call of her Master whenever He saw fit to summon her is indicated by a note dated April 21, 1918, which was found in her Bible indicating her choice of a Psalm to be read on the occasion. No more fitting message could be left those of us who mourn her passing than the rich and meaningful words of the 37th Psalm. At her request and for the strengthening of our faith we commend those matchless words to you.
