Looking for descendants of two brothers born in TEXAS who came to the Washoe⁄Humboldt area of NV. Marshall Hoskins was here by 1900, and Charles joined him by 1910. Charles is listed on census records in Humboldt Co. from 1910 to 1930, but Marshall is found in Washoe Co., where his first wife, Frankie G. READ, daughter of Samuel Read, died in 1945. (Marshall and Frankie also divorced in Reno in 1919, and Reno newspapers indicate he probably remarried in 1925 to a Miss Minnie Bradshaw, also of the area, although the marriage took place in Modesto, CA.)
Marshall & Frankie had three children that lived to adulthood: Nora m. Cox
Charles P m. Sicily?
Their children: Alma m. Smith;
Frankie m. Hawkins
Erma m. Sullivan
George S. m. Mabel R.
whose son was named Ted Hoskins m. Betty Hopkins
May m. Charles A. Livingstone
I am NOT a descendant, but I am a serious researcher of this family because the FATHER of Marshall & Charles P. was a Llano Co. Sheriff in the later 1870's during a lawless time period when a RANGE WAR was raging in Central Texas. Their father, William P. Hoskin, was an important figure in this conflict, and I feel his descendants may be totally unaware of the interesting story entwined in the life of both their father, William P. Hoskins, and their mother, Harriet WOLFE.
Unfortunately, Harriet died after Marshall was born, and by 1880, Wm. P. was so consumed with consumption, he and the two boys had to live with Harriet's half brother and family because William was near death, which occurred just a few months after the census was taken. Both parents are buried in the Board Branch Cem., Lone Grove, Llano Co. TX
Little is known about the parentage of William P. Hoskins, but there is more detail available on Harriet's family. Researchers on the HOODOO RANGE WAR, as it came to be called, are anxious to find more on the family of Wm. P. Hoskins. Hopefully, additional information will come forward with this posting.

Traveiling from MN in or about 1863, a Mr. Bryant and his wife, Abigale, were traveling with a John Tennison and a Miss Trott. (Both ladies were sisters and Mrs. Bryant was lame). They sold their property in Nevada in 1868 or 1869 and moved to Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, California.
Have been researching the family of Joseph Trott and the Tennison family. Records and facts I have concern the families to present day and go back to 1790. The few years this branch of the family tree were in Nevada is unclear. Mr. Bryant went in to the hardware business in California and the business was willed to his son in 1939. Any and all information regarding the Francis Marion Bryant, Abigale Trott Bryant, Valina⁄Velina⁄Velena Trott or⁄ John Tennison would greatly be appreciated.

I was just doing research on my ancestor, Lieutenant Robert L. Duncan, when I came across a book called: The Works of Hubert Howe Bancroft, vol. 25; History of Nevada I read through some of it and found it so very interesting, but much more when I came across my GG-Grandfather's name! He was in the 2nd California Calvary, Company F, but was attached to Company I during the period of May 30, 1865 to May 1866. It was written, and I quote; "..Troubles continuing in northern Nevada, Captain Conrad of Company B, of that organization, and a detachment of Company I, under Lieutenant Duncan, with eight citizens, had a battle on the morning of the 12th of January, 1866, with the Indiana on Fish Creek, sixty-five miles west of Paradise Valley. The conflict was a determined one on both sides, the savages being led by Captain John, a chief of the Warner Lake Shoshones, who had killed Colonel McDermit. After a three hour's fight the troops were victorious, slaying thirty-five warriors, capturing ten women with their children, and destroying their supplies..."
I just received his Civil War file from NARA and am able to follow where he went from month to month. He served from August 1861 until July 866. He died on September 19, 1878, in Moscow Territory, Idaho. From family notes I can verify that "his hat and coat were found in Indian Territory." I guess he continued to serve our country, but as a civilian, and lost his battle at the young age of 42. He is buried in MOSCOW CEMETERY, Moscow, Idaho.
I know there were battles being fought between the Indians and settlers, perhaps that is how the retired Lieutenant Robert Duncan died.
Robert Duncan was born in 1836, in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. His family removed to Dubuque County, Iowa about 1851. Robert went west by 1861 and enlisted in the California Calvary. Eventually his parents, Samuel and Margaret (Long) Duncan, and brother, John K. Duncan, came to California and settled in Solano County.
I wonder if anyone knows of this family?

My mother's brother, JOHN EDWARD GOODMAN died in a Navy hospital in Reno, Nevada on or near January 8, 1958. He was in the Navy stationed at Portsmouth, NH. He was born in 1923 in Portsmouth, Scioto Co OH.
The obit says he died of a heart attack. He was 37 years old. There has always been a rumor in the family that he was beaten to death. His obit did not list his wife or children, only his parents, brother and 3 sisters. My Mom knows he had a family in California. She does not remember his wife's name. Is it possible to get a copy of his death certificate? Wouldn't that have a wife listed? I greatly appreciate any direction and help. I would love to find his family for my Mom...she is 75..she remembers he had 3 daughters, one named Sheila, not much more. Thank you very much.

I am researching my gr-gr-grandfather while he lived in Washoe County, NV around 1868 to 1880. Anton Traut was born in Sodernheim Germany in 1835. He came to America in 1852. His occupation was a shoemaker. I have a copy of the 1871-72 Directory, for Washoe Co. stating that fact. It is believed that he arrived in Nevada, more than likely Reno in 1868⁄69. I would like to know if there are any public records for him such as; did he own his own business or work for someone else? Did he marry during the time he was in Reno? I have proof that he married Martha McLeod on the 14th of July, 1880 in Bodie, CA. Was he single between 1868 and 1880, or could there be another marriage? He abandoned a wife and unborn child in Ohio Christmas Eve of 1868. If anyone has information on this man, I would appreciate hearing from you. He left Bodie about 1883 and settled in Spokane, WA. Any information would be appreciated.

William Grant Wilson, my grandfather, was born in Marshalltown, IA in 1875. He moved to CA as a child eventually marrying Mae Housh and fathering 3 children. As a widower by 1920, he struggled to support 2 surviving daughters. He took his carpentry skills to Nevada in the 30's and eventually settled in Reno where he met and married Clara Johnston. I am looking for this marriage record which I hope will shed some light on his parentage. Broad date range: 1935 to 1950 (Clara Johnston Wilson died in January of 1950). He died in CA in May of 1955.

The name Lembert is also seen as Lambert in many instances. Will give background and then some questions that I need help with.
Francis X. Lembert married Maggie Spaulding (a widow) in 1900. They lived at 601 Vine Street, Reno. Frank died in June 1902 at the Los Angeles Veterans Home where he had only lived for about a month; he is buried in the LA National Cemetery; he was an active member of Gen. O. M. Mitchell Post of the GAR. His step-daughter Alice Mosher died July 1902 and is buried in IOOF Cemetery; funeral director was Perkins and Oliver. His widow, Maggie, married H. Hamlin, optician, in 1903, but they were divorced in 1905-6. Newspaper article mentions F.C. Updike as administrator of F. X. Lembert estate. Do funeral home records exist for Perkins and Oliver?
Where is IOOF cemetery?
Any ideas on tracking deed records for 601 Vine Street, Reno?
Any ideas on tracking Maggie Spaulding Lembert Hamlin forward?
Do any records exist from Gen. O. M. Mitchell Post GAR?
Thanks for any help.

John Leonard McTaggart born 8 March 1957, last known address Sun Valley, Nevada.
I'm trying to get in touch with my cousin, John L McTaggart, to invite him to my familytree, but I can't use Intel.com to find him since I live in Sweden. For years my family have tried to get in touch with him without any results.
His mother was Marianne Ramen born 7 August 1935 who died in Las Vegas, Nevada and his father was Leonard McTaggart who died 1 October 2001 in Sparks, Washoe, Nevada. I would be so grateful if anybody could find my cousin. Thank you for taking your time. Have a nice summer. Sincerely,

Looking for information regarding Elizabeth Michaelchuck Adams. She is presumed dead. Have a Mineral Deed (property in Winkler County, Texas) executed by her on 8⁄15⁄1994 in Washoe County, NV. Elizabeth (aka Betty) Michaelchuck married William Paul Adams on 10⁄15⁄1974 in Reno, NV, and divorced on 12⁄14⁄1978 in Washoe Co., NV. They remarried on 10⁄8⁄1983 in Lee County, FL, and William Paul Adams died 13 days later on 10⁄21⁄1983 in Fort Myers, Lee Co., FL. His death certificate shows his occupation to be a Card Dealer in a gambling casino. His date of birth was 9⁄11⁄1923 and I assume Elizabeth Adams was of a similar age.
