PATRICK D. STEWART

Pat was born October 21, 1970 at Washoe Medical Center, Reno NV.

He attended Washoe County Schools including Wooster High School and graduated from Washoe High School in 1989. Pat enlisted in the Army after graduation and served in Desert Storm and in Korea and completed active duty in 1996. He moved to Ohio where he and his brother owned Stewart Brothers Construction Company and in 2001 he returned to Nevada and met his wife Roberta and her daughter Ali.

Roberta and Patrick were engaged in Ensenada, Mexico and married in the Virginia Highlands on November 22, 2003 in a spiritual outdoor ceremony. Patrick has always been Roberta's Hero and now he will remain a Hero to us all.

In 2002 Pat enlisted in the Nevada Army National Guard and deployed with Task Force Storm to Afghanistan in early 2005. Pat's awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal (posthumous), Purple Heart (posthumous), Air Medal (posthumous), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal (2nd Award), South West Asia Service Medal with three bronze service stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Kuwait Liberation Medal-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Liberation Medal-Gover nment of Kuwait, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Nevada Distin guished Service Medal, Nevada National Guard Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge Senior Crewman Badge, Expert Rifle Badge, Expert Pistol Badge. He died Sunday September 25, 2005 in Deh Chopan, Zabul Province, Afghanistan when his CH-47 Chinook Helicopter was shot down by enemy fire.

Pat is predeceased by his grandfathers, Patrick Ivan Stewart, Stanley W.Abbott and Harold Edward Nahhas, and cousin Clay Stewart.

Pat is survived by his loving wife Roberta and stepdaughter Alexandria Max well of Fernley, NV; son Raymond Stewart of Spring, Texas; parents Steve and Sandy Stewart, Reno, NV; brother Jason and wife Tiffany nephew Takoda and niece Cheynne Stewart of Silver Springs, NV; grandparents Ruth and Norman Hult, Sparks NV and Margaret Nahhas, Bishop, CA; aunts and uncles Jim and Mary Stewart, Virginia City, NV, Virginia Cryer, Sparks, NV, Ken and Pam Abbott Bishop, CA, Nancy and Tom Pehl, Vallejo, CA, and Richard and Creda Stewart, Biloxi, MS. Pat is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and an extended family of Abbotts, Maxwells, Nahhas, Springers and Stewarts. Services were held Wednesday October 12 at 11:11 am in the Kleiner Oak Grove at Rancho San Rafael, Reno.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory can be made to the Patrick D. Stewart Family Fund account number 004971028272 at Bank of America. Pat had a strong belief that what he was doing in Afghanistan was the right thing and his trust in and support of his comrades was extraordi nary. He was an outdoorsman and will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing and rock hunting. He was a warrior, a wonderful hus band, son, brother, uncle, and father he will be missed. Northern Nevada Memorial Cremation Burial Society has been en trusted with the funeral arrangements.
