GEREMINA"GEMMA" MASINI FABRI
Geremina "Gemma" Fabri was born in Lammari, Frar. Di Capannori, (a small commune of Lucca) Italy on May 8, 1892 to Cherubino and Antonio (Menicucci) Masini. Their other children were: Lorentino, Alaide, Celide, Ersilia, Anthony and Ettore.
Gemma's father ran a small grocery store out of their home in Lammari. For a time, her mother worked as a nursemaid for wealthy families. Gemma helped take care of her siblings.
On September 6, 1908, at age 16, she married Louis Fabri after a three month courtship in Lammari. Louis had returned to Italy to find an wife. They left Italy on September 23rd, arriving in New York. They took a train for Yerington, Nevada where Louis had a business.
The couple had four children all born in Yerington: Peter, Carol, Harry and Eleanor.
She was a member of the St. Gemma Alter Society.
Gemma passed away on January 3, 1976, at her daughter's home in San Diego where she was visiting . She was buried in Yerington next to her late husband in St. Joseph's Cemetery, the Catholic section of Valley View Cemetery.
She was call "Nonna" by her grandchildren.
