ELEANOR VANDA FABRI PARKE

Eleanor Vanda Fabri was born 12 Dec. 1923 to Louis and Gemma (Masini) Fabri in Yerington, Nevada. Her siblings were: Peter, Carol, and Harry.

Eleanor's father was a prosperous businessman in Yerington. Both of her parents were born in Lammari, Italy. She was educated in the local school system and she attended Fresno State College and Reno Business college.

Eleanor's musical talent included playing the violin.

She was a member of the Catholic faith and attended Holy Family Catholic Church in her youth. She worked for a number of years for the Nevada Legislature in Carson City in the early 1940's.

Eleanor met her future husband, Merle Parke, an M.P. serving in Hawthrone after WWII at a social function in Yerington. They married in 1946 and moved to Long Beach, CA for several years where Merle purchased and resold boats.

The business expanded when the couple in partnership with Eleanor's brothers, the family invested in the Sun Harbor Marina in San Diego, CA where Eleanor and Merle lived for many years. After the sale of Sun Harbor, Eleanor and Merle invested in the Charter Yacht Brokerage on Shelter Island.

After several years of retirement, the couple returned to Yerington, where Eleanor passed away on 25 Apr 2007 at age 85, at the Long Term Care of South Lyon Medical Center facility.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington. She was buried in Valley View Cemetery near her husband and parents.
