Gabica, Daniel Jr. ~ Wednesday, February 23, 2000. Daniel Gabica Jr., 74, died Saturday, Feb. 19, at Northern Nevada Medical Center, Sparks. He was a first-generation son of Basque immigrants, born on March 24, 1925, to Daniel Gabica Sr. and Constantina Bengochea Gabica, who came to this country and settled at Rock Creek Ranch, Orovada, in 1919. Gabica graduated from Humboldt County High School and worked and owned ranches in the Orovada area for several years. He worked for the State of Nevada Highway Department for 26 years. He and his wife owned and operated the Downtown Motel in Winnemucca for 26 years and sold that business in 1994. His mother, Constantina, his father, Daniel, and a brother, Joseph, who died in World War II, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife Juanita Etchegoyhen Gabica; his daughters Dana Rae Baker of Sparks, and Juliana Gabica of Carson City; grandchildren, Darcy Justine and Ross Michael Baker of Sparks, and Caroline Elizabeth Gabica of Carson City; brother Raymond Gabica of Paradise Valley, sisters, Mary Bengoa and Felicia Gabica, of Winnemucca; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., today, Feb. 23, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Winnemucca, with burial services immediately after at Winnemucca Cemetery.

Gagon, Willa Joie ~ Saturday, February 12, 2000. Funeral services for Willa Joie Gagon, 71, will be held today at 2 p.m. at the LDS Church in Gardnerville. Friends may call at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Mrs. Gagon died on Feb. 9 at Tahoe Pacific Hospital in Sparks. She was born on March 13, 1928, in her parents' home in Pocatello, Idaho. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1948 and from Brigham Young University in 1951. In 1950, she and Ronald Eugene Gagon were married in Elko. Mrs. Gagon began teaching in Grace, Idaho, and for the next 30 years devoted her life to her students in Idaho and Nevada. In 1983, she retired from Douglas County School District with numerous awards and credits. She was Douglas County Vocational Teacher of the Year in 1981 and had been Beta Sigma Phi Women of the Year. In September 1999, she moved from Gardnerville to Sparks to be with her daughter and family and was a member of the Sparks Second Ward of the LDS Church. Mrs. Gagon was preceded in death by her son Ronald Eugene Gagon, Jr. and a brother, Robert Enis Hartvigsen. Surviving are her daughter Colleen Coates of Sparks; brother Jack Hartvigsen of Twin Falls, Idaho; and three grandchildren. She will be buried next to her parents in Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho, on Tuesday.

Gall, Mary ~ October 6, 1999. Mary Frances Gall, 73, died at her residence in Walker, Calif., Oct. 1. Mrs. Gall was born in Indianapolis, Ind., May 26, 1926, to Jennings and Helen Sanford. She had worked for the K&M; Bakery for five years and lived in the Walker area for 25 years. She is survived by her son Gerry Gall of Walker and two daughters, Jeanette Musselman of Evergreen, Colo., and Juanita Folstad of La Mesa, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren rune and Buck Mortuary of Bishop, Calif., handled the arrangements.

Gansberg, Chris Sr. ~ Saturday, October 28, 2000. A memorial service for Chris H. Gansberg Sr., 91, was held yesterday, Oct. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville. Rev. Russell Howen officiated. Mr. Gansberg died Oct. 24 at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno. He was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Fredericksberg, Calif., to Fred and Lena Neddenriep Gansberg. On July 21, 1940, he married Ellen Hutchinson in Los Angeles. A rancher and lifelong Markleeville resident, he was the fire chief for Alpine County for 30 years and a California brand inspector for 50 years. He loved training horses and horseback riding. One of his greatest joys was teaching horsemanship to children. Mr. Gansberg was a Minden Rotary member for 20 years, an Alpine County constable for 30 years and a 4-H leader for 20 years. His wife Ellen died Feb. 25, 2000 and his brother Fred Gansberg in March 2000. He was also predeceased by another brother, Walt Gansberg. Survivors include his son Chris H. Gansberg Jr. of Markleeville and daughters Gaye Tyndall of Gardnerville, Joan Chacon of Reno and Joye Reeder of Brigham City, Utah; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Gansberg, Ellen ~ Wednesday, March 1, 2000. A memorial service for Ellen H. Gansberg, 84, was held yesterday, February 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville. Mrs. Gansberg died on Feb. 25 at her Fredericksburg, Calif., home. She was born on Dec. 28, 1915, in San Diego, Calif., to John and Gladys Bitson Hutchinson. She received a bachelor of education degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1938 and a bachelor of sociology degree in 1939. In 1939, she moved to Alpine County to teach school, and in 1940, she married Chris Gansberg. Mrs. Gansberg also worked as the Alpine County Welfare Director and a librarian. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Minden Fortnightly Club. Predeceasing Mrs. Gansberg was her brother Emerson Hutchinson, M.D. Survivors include her husband Chris H. Gansberg Sr. of Fredericksburg; son Chris H. Gansberg Jr, also of Fredericksburg, and daughters Gaye Tyndall of Gardnerville, Joan G. Chacon of Reno and Joye G. Reeder of Brigham City, Utah; brother-in-law Fred H. Gansberg of Plymouth, Calif., and Fredericksburg; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gansberg, Fred ~ Wednesday, March 22, 2000. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Fred H. Gansberg, 85, tomorrow, March 23, at the Amador County Fair Grounds in Plymouth, Calif. Mr. Gansberg died at his Plymouth residence on March 19. He was born Jan. 7, 1915, in Fredrickburg, Calif., and moved to Amador County in 1961. He was a charter member of the Carson Valley chapter of Future Farmers of America and a bull rider on the rodeo circuit for several years. He loved horses and the Amador County Fair, where he would show and exhibit cattle and horses. Mr. Gansberg was preceded in death by brother Walt Gansberg of Markleeville. Surviving are his brother Chris Gansberg Sr.; nephew Chris Gansberg Jr. of Markleeville; nieces Joan G. Chacon of Reno, Gay Gansberg of Gardnerville and Joy Reader of Utah; many other nieces and nephews; and his dear friend Mary Beshears of Plymouth. Interment will be at Fredricksburg Cemetery in Fredricksburg, [Calif.]

Garrison, Mildred Marian ~ Saturday, July 29, 2000. Mildred Marian Garrison, 72, born Nov. 17, 1927, in Bishop, Calif., died on July 21 at the Tenaya Lake area of Yosemite National Park. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Lester Mike of Coleville, Wilma Rambeau, Irwin Rambeau and Ivan Garrison. A Cry Dance was scheduled yesterday, July 28, at the Garrison residence on PaHa Lane in Bishop. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, July 29, at the Brune and Buck Mortuary Chapel with Gretchen Hess officiating. Services will also be held tomorrow, July 30, at 2 p.m. at the Antelope Valley Methodist Church in Coleville. Interment will be at the Antelope Valley Cemetery with the Ladies Auxiliary of Cline Howard Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars officiating.

Geisler, Harry ~ Wednesday, April 19, 2000.Harry F. Geisler, 83, died on April 13 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City. He was born on March 22, 1917, in Lake Mills, Wisc., to Emil and Doris Homann Geisler. On June 24, 1939, he and Eunice E. Selover were married in Dubuque, Iowa. Mr. Geisler was a machinist for 40 years and retired in 1982. He loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. He was a Lutheran and had resided in Minden for eight years, coming from Philomath, Ore. Surviving Mr. Geisler are his wife Eunice of Minden; daughter Karen D. Pestana of Minden and son Bruce A. Geisler of Baton Rouge, La.; sisters Beverly Geisler of Benton, Ariz., and Joy Sheller of Peoria, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gendron, Margaret ~ Wednesday, August 16, 2000. A funeral service for Margaret Jane Gendron, 77, will be held today, Aug. 16, at 5 p.m. at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City. Mrs. Gendron died on Aug. 12 in Silver Springs, where she lived since 1992, coming from Sun Valley, Calif. She was born on Feb. 8, 1923, in Newberry, Mich., to Oscar and Elsie DeWitt Winters. She was a homemaker and is survived by her husband Franklin Gendron of Silver Springs; sons Timothy Gendron and Samuel Gendron, both of Silver Springs, Daniel Gendron of Algonac, Mich., and Thomas Gendron of Newberry, Mich; and daughters Belinda Loker of Silver Springs, Katherine Blackann of Detroit, Mich., Penny Lynn Dennis of Belaire, Mich., and Amy Reno of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Burial will be at the Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry, Mich.

Gerner, Ruthella ~ Wednesday, December 22, 1999. Ruthella Logan Gardner, 76, a former Carson Valley resident, died on Nov. 11 at her Novato, Calif., home. She was born on Aug. 17, 1923, in Turlock, Calif., to Jay and Ruth Averil Logan. Upon the death of her mother, she moved to Carson Valley to be raised by her uncle and aunt, James and Amy Darrough. She attended elementary school in Carson Valley and graduated from Douglas High School in 1941. She then joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. In 1945, she and Leroy Gerner were married in the Methodist Church in Gardnerville. She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by numerous cousins, second cousins, two nieces and three nephews, including Janice Hansen, Glenn Logan and James Darrough, all of Carson Valley.

Gialy, Andrew ~ September 29, 1999. Mr. Gialy died on Sept. 15 in Havre, Mont., where he was working for A-1 Paving Inc. He was born on May 13, 1955, in Lovelock to William and Mary Gialy. He was a 1973 graduate of Carson High School and also of the U.S. Air Force avionic sensor system training. Mr. Gialy served with the Nevada Air National Guard from July 1977 to December 1984. He was a heavy equipment operator for 25 years and had previously worked for Bently Agridynamics in Minden. He enjoyed camping, hunting, boating and traveling the U.S. He also restored vintage automobiles. Predeceasing him was his father William Gialy in 1987. Survivors include his wife Regina Gialy of Carson City; mother and stepfather Mary and Stuart Knapp of Carson City; stepson Anthony Dietel of Burbank, Calif.; sisters Patti Adkins of Elko and Terry Pitman of Twin Falls, Idaho; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.

Gibilisco, Paul ~ September 4, 1999. A memorial service for Paul Gibilisco, 76, was held yesterday, Sept. 3, at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, with Pastor Pete Nelson officiating. Mr. Gibilisco died on Aug. 31 at Valley Meadows Living Center in Gardnerville. He was born in Omaha, Neb., on Dec. 17, 1922, to Rosario and Mary Cantone Gibilisco. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. On Dec. 12, 1969, he and Sarah Vasta were married in Reno. Mr. Gibilisco was in quality control for the food industry and lived in San Jose, Calif., before moving to Gardnerville eight years ago. He enjoyed hunting, traveling to San Francisco, dancing and spending time with his family. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Josephine Moreno. Survivors include his wife Sarah of Gardnerville; sons Gary of San Jose, Calif., and Terrance of South Lake Tahoe and daughters Carolyn Gibilisco of Gardnerville, Paula Gibilisco of Minden and Marilyn Gibilisco Cayton of San Jose; sister Lena Codr of St. Joseph, Mo.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Goldberg, Jesse ~ Saturday, January 1, 2000. A graveside service for Jesse Henry Goldberg, 73, will be held tomorrow, Jan. 2, at 2:30 p.m. at Eastside Memorial Park, 1600 Buckeye Road in Minden. Rabbi Nadler of North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation at Incline Village will conduct the service. Interment will follow. Mr. Goldberg died on Dec. 30 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno. He was born on June 9, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Joseph and Jeannette Pinck Goldberg. He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. Mr. Goldberg was an avid outdoor sports enthusiast and enjoyed anything that had a throttle. He was a man who never knew his age and who knew no boundaries. On July 30, 1972, he and Virginia L. Cloud were married in Los Angeles. He was a Gardnerville resident for 25 years, coming from Los Angeles. Predeceasing Mr. Goldberg were his parents, his first wife, Barbara Goldberg, and one son, Stephen Goldberg. Survivors include his wife Virginia Goldberg of Gardnerville, sons James Goldberg of Gardnerville, Robert Goldberg of Palm Springs, Calif., and Fred Goldberg of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and daughters Lee Reiner of Gardnerville and Julie Ann Keeney of Dayton; sister Joyce Samson of Los Angeles; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Goldberg, Robert ~ Friday, September 1, 2000. Robert John Goldberg, of Palm Springs, Calif., died Aug. 28 at Riverside County Regional Medical Center. He was 51. Mr. Goldberg was born July 18, 1949 in Los Angeles to Jesse and Barbara Goldberg. He was a lifetime resident of Southern California where he was self-employed in the furniture business. Mr. Goldberg enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, boating and motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Stephen. He is survived by his stepmother Virginia Goldberg of Gardnerville, daughter Allison Goldberg of Los Angeles, brothers James of Gardnerville and Fred of Thousand Oaks, Calif., sisters Julie Ann Keeney of Dayton, Nev., and Lee Reiner of Gardnerville, 11 nieces and nephews.

Goslin, Anthony ~ Wednesday, August 16, 2000. Anthony Lamneck Goslin, 75, of Wayne, Penn., died on Aug. 12 at Carson Health Care. A private family service will be held in Minden and a celebration of life service will be held Aug. 27 in Wayne. Mr. Goslin was born in Pennsylvania on July 10, 1925, to John Sr. and Ernestine Schupp Goslin. He served five years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked as a contractor. Surviving are his daughters Leni Manning of Minden and Sherilyn Padture of Storrs, Conn., and son David Springer of Pennsylvania; brothers John Goslin Jr. of Berwyn, Pa., Karl Goslin of Artemas, Pa., and Pepper Goslin of Ocala, Fla., and sister Jane Goslin of Berwyn; and four grandchildren.

Goulard, Janet ~ Wednesday, June 28, 2000. Janet Ann Goulard, 72, died on June 24 at her Gardnerville home. She was born on Nov. 22, 1927, in Stark County, N.D., to John and Lena Crank Gress. Mrs. Goulard was a Gardnerville resident for five years, coming from Sacramento, Calif., where she worked for the Payroll and Accounting Office at McClellan Air Force Base for 27 years. She enjoyed reading and golfing and belonged to three golf clubs in Sacramento. Predeceasing Mrs. Goulard were her parents, husband Edmund S. Goulard, who died in 1980 in Sacramento, brother Buddy and sister Eunice. Survivors include her son Marc A. Goulard of Wilderville, Ore.; brothers Arnold Gress of California and Jimmy Gress of Idaho and sisters Sharie McGhee of Norco, Calif., and Marlys Craig of Eugene, Ore.; and grandson Chris C. Goulard of Gardnerville.

Graeber, Roy ~ November 17, 1999. A funeral service for Roy Gerald Graeber, 85, will be held today, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church of the Sierra, 930 Julie Lane, South Lake Tahoe. Mr. Graeber, a resident of South Lake Tahoe from 1961 to 1993, died Nov. 10. He was a native of Iowa and moved to California in 1940. He was retired from the city of South Lake Tahoe, where he was a mechanic. For the last five years, he was a resident of Mesa, Ariz. Mr. Graeber's hobbies were prospecting and collecting John Deere memorabilia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lenora Graeber, in 1992 and his brother Lester Graeber in 1997. Among his survivors are his second wife Lucille Graeber of Mesa, Ariz.; son Gary Graeber and daughter-in-law Linda Graeber of Carson City; grandchildren Robin Sanders of Carson City, Jessica Royce of Olympia, Wash., and Jason Graeber of Fallon; 10 great- grandchildren; and step-children Colleen Sykes, Ernest Christiansen, Joann Lytle and Leon Christiansen and numerous step-grandchildren, all of Wisconsin.

Gray, Patricia ~ Wednesday, January 19, 2000. Patricia Lee Gray, 56, died on Jan. 13 at her Gardnerville home. She was born in Baldwin Park, Calif., on Sept. 26, 1943. In 1982, she and Donald L. Gray were married in Palm Springs, Calif. Mrs. Gray enjoyed traveling and loved Germany, Austria and Switzerland. She was a paralegal in Palm Springs and Los Angeles for 25 years, and a member of the Eastern Star in Los Angeles. Before moving to Gardnerville three years ago, she lived in Cathedral City, Calif. Preceding Mrs. Gray in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wimberly. Survivors include her husband Donald L. Gray of Gardnerville; daughter Shannon Kaney of Mason, Ohio; and sister Char Reid of Ontario, Calif.

Green, Ruth ~ Wednesday, October 11, 2000. Ruth Ada Green, 78, died on Oct. 5 at Carson Valley Medical Center in Gardnerville. A private family service will be held. She was born in Arlington, Texas, on Nov. 1, 1921, to Charles and Susan Daniels Bogle. Mrs. Green was a homemaker and Air Force wife who traveled extensively much of her life. Four years ago, she moved from Reno to Gardnerville. She enjoyed music and art. Predeceasing Mrs. Green were her parents, husband James M. Green, who died on Oct. 31, 1991, in Reno, and brothers Neal and Charles. Survivors include her daughters Lisa S. Green of Gardnerville and Linda D. Lang of Puyallup, Wash., and sons Richard V. Green of Reno and Stephen A. Green of Yuba City, Calif.; sister Betty Wheat of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Gunderson, Carol ~ Saturday, August 19, 2000. A memorial service for Carol Ann Murchie-Gunderson, 61, will be held today, Aug. 19, at 4 p.m. at Carson City Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 706 E. College Parkway, Carson City. Ms. Gunderson was born to Archie and Jane Murchie in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended school in Ely and graduated from White Pine High School. For the past 31 years, she lived in Carson City. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Clearview Carson City Congregation. Surviving are her brothers Jim and John Murchie; her sister Jean Betts; six nieces and nephews; and six grandnieces and grandnephews.
