by Patricia A Scott, 2000
The West Point settlement existed from approximately 1868 through 1871 when the residents left Nevada to return to Utah. It was located near where the Reid-Garner Power Station is now in Moapa Township and it appears on an 1855 Nevada Railroad map. The cemetery has been abandoned for over a hundred and thirty years. In 1986, Lee Huntsman erected the above marker. Only one headstone remains. 27 graves are designated, but many more could be there. "West Point Mormon Pioneer Cemetery 1850 - 1868 Lee Hunstman 1986" Do you know whose stone this is ~>
The 1910 census shows Mr. and Mrs. Powers. Jim was born in New york, and his wife was listed as Mary A., born in Utah.
