Gard Family Additional Info
Morris Co. Up

The following was an email that I received pertaining to information on the Gard Family that is found in JP Crayon's Rockaway Records.

Dear Brianna.

My sister and I have been working on the Gard line for about 30 years. We have some corrections that should be noted on the "Rockaway Records" which are now very old and have found to be in error and changes should be noted. I have copied the opening paragraph of the site and will put into parenthesis what we have found, after much search, seperating, deliberating, pouring over family records found in recent years, and more than is room to mention here. If a disclamer can be place under the statement of the "Rockaway Records" saying research has been found to prove these records are not updated to current findings.

Also the book of Mr. Anson A Gard,  can not be found anywhere.....!!!!

Jeremiah, son of Joseph and wife Mary, born 1717, died at Morristown July 19, 1783, and wife Elizabeth is said to have had seven sons who served in the Revolution. (Elizabeth was the step mother and raised the children after Unknown wife died.)

Children:
Ephriam, married Mary PIERSON; (was a son of Jeremiah, raised by Elizabeth Roff Moore, widow of David Moore)
Capt. Daniel, ?(was son of Jeremiah, raised by Elizabeth Roff Moore, widow of David Moore)
Gersham, married Phebe HUNTINGTON, (Belongs to Daniel of Morris Co. church records, the brother of the subject of this paragraph)
Jeremiah, married Elizabeth (ROFF) MOORE ( was the subject himself, and his second wife.)
Jacob, married Sarah HATHAWAY, (he belongs to Jeremiah's brother, Daniel)
Moses, married Sarah LYON; ( is the son of Jeremiah and unknown wife and raised by Elizabeth Roff Moore, widow of David Moore)
Jedediah, (Daniel, subjects brother)
Joseph, married Kesia LINDSLEY (belongs to Daniel, brother to Jeremiah, still in question)
Phebe, married Caleb FAIRCHILD; (subjects daugher)
Sarah, married Samuel PARKHURST;(daughter of Daniel, subjects brother)
Rebecca, married Nathan HATHAWAY; (subjects daughter)
Hannah, (do not exist)
Minna. (do not exist)

Bible records of Daniel GARD show he was born Sept. 6, 1755, married Hannah MERRICK Jan. 26, 1783, died June 18, 1824. Children: Rachel, born Dec. 4, 1783, died Aug. 1, 1803; Lewis, born Aug. 11, 1785, died Feb. 13, 1789; Phebe, born July 28, 1787, married Abraham VANWERK, died Jan. 16, 1875; Jane, born July 8, 1789,

Mr. Anson A. GARD, of New York City, has recently published the GARD genealogy, relating to this old Morris
county family.

So many people have been totaly confused by this above statement. Connecting the wrong child to the wrong parent, because of it. There is still so much to be researched and so much missing that needs to be found for proof positive.

If you could take a look at my web page and see where the corrections have been made. I have used the input of many researchers that have done some very deep searching. If you would like us to send you some information on the above, please feel free to get in touch with me.

We put out a quarterly newsletter on the Gard/Garde/Guard lines and show where a lot of this information has been found and how the conclusions were drawn. Assorted Gard lines and their descent from the original Roger Garde, that came into Maine, have contibuted information.

Please feel free to get in touch with me for any questions.
