Families, (Rockaway, N.J., Rockaway Publishing Co., 1902) Obadiah, son of John BRUEN, came from Stapleford, England, with his wife Sarah, in 1640, and had children: Hannah, born 1643, married John BALDWIN Sr.; John, born 1646, married Esther LAWRENCE; Rebecca, married Thomas POST. Obadiah removed to Newark with the Milford County in 1667. The descendents of John and Esther were numerous, and many, like other Newark families, came to Morris County. The BRUENs came to Chatham and Madison. Joseph BRUEN married Rachael CARTER. He died 1820. Who was John BRUEN who died at Rockaway, Apr. 1820? Children of Joseph and Rachel: Phebe, Alexander, born Jan. 17, 1779, married Matilda BONNELL, Sept. 22, 1803, died May 5, 1857, she was born Feb. 11, 1784, died Nov. 26,1860. Benjamin had children: Isaac H., Elias R., Ashbel, Jacob, Phebe, Eliza, Jane and Caroline. Ichabod had children: Moses, Elijah W., Sanford, Joanna, Juliana and Rachel. Caleb Carter had children: Ambrose, Mary, Ann, Margaret, Martha, Joanna, Sarah, Joseph and George. Children of Alexander and Matilda: Juliette, born June 27, 1804, died Sept. 9, 1805; Cyrenus, born Sept. 9, 1806, married Charlotte A. BURNETT, Feb. 16, 1832, died April 17, 1845; Jonathan B., born July I, 1809, married Sarah P. MUCHMORE, Nov. 4, 1835, died Aug. 14, 1884; Harriet E., born Mar. 25, 1812, married John KNAPP, Nov. 5, 1834, Alfred F., born Oct. 20, 1814, married Catharine, daughter of Henry and Eliza HALDREN, Feb. 15, 1838; John Carter, born Dec. 28, 1817, married Mary M. WOODRUFF, Dec. 28, 1843; Charles Alexander, born June 20, 1820, married Cornelia NOE, Nov. 21, 1843, died Aug. 25, 1874; James Harvey, born at Madison, May 25, 1823, came to Rockaway about 1840, married Emily, daughter of John B. and Delia KELSEY, May 28, 1843, died May 5, 1885. His wife, born 1825, died Feb. 28, 1899; both buried at Rockaway. Charlotte Ward, born Oct. 12, 1829, Kate Winans, of Vernon, 1852, died at New York City Sept. 8, 1895. Chillion, born Sept. 14, 1830, died Feb. 17, 1833. Children of John P. and Maria (RYERSON) Brown: Theodore, born Aug. 19, 1845, married Emma G., daughter of Charles V. TERWILLIGER, Oct. 21, 1880. She was born July 25, 1858. Ryerson, born Dec. 14, 1845, died Dec. 22, 1852. Walter, born June 26, 1847, died Dec. 5, 1852, buried at Oak Ridge. Children of Theodore and Emma G.: Delos John, born May 12, 1882; Theodore E., born Dec. 2,1885; Ethel M., born Oct. 2, 1887; Elizabeth Gene, born Nov. 19, 1889.
