Source: History Morris County New Jersey, Volume II, Lewis Publishing Co., 1914 John Halsey BONSALL was born at Morristown, New Jersey, June 12, 1880, son of James M. and Alida (BEACH) BONSALL. He attended St. George’s Hall, Summit, New Jersey, and Lehigh University, class of 1903. Deciding upon a professional life, he matriculated at the New York Law School, from which he graduated in 1905, and at the same time he studied law in the office of his uncle, the late Frederick H. BEACH, of Morristown. He was admitted tot he New Jersey bar in February, 1906. He was associated with his uncle until Mr. BEACH’s death in November, 1913, and since that time has been practicing by himself. Mr. BONSALL is a member and trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of Morristown. He is a manager of the Morris County Savings Bank and a director of the National Iron Bank of Morristown and the National Union Bank of Dover, New Jersey. He is a member of the New Jersey Historical Society, Washington Association of New Jersey, of which he is treasurer and a trustee; Sons of the American Revolution, the Kappa Alpha Society, a director of the Morristown Memorial Hospital, of which he was treasurer from 1908 to June, 1911, and a manager of the Morris County Children’s Home. In politics he is a Republican. On June 16, 1914, Mr. BONSALL married Katherine Bayard, daughter of Nicholas Bayard and Sarah G. (CHAPMAN) NEILSON, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
