Hunterdon County Query
Surname: IFFLAND | |
Johann David IFFLAND was born on July 21, 1675 in Mecklar, Hesse, Germany; son of Johannes IFFLANDT and his wife Catherina. David immigrated to the USA in 1709; first to New York and, in 1710, settled in Hunterdon County, NJ on a farm covering about 200 acres...that site is now covered by the town of Flemington, NJ. David was a "planter". His farm was sold on June 12, 1762. Two questions I am in pursuit of at this time: 1) His wife's name is "Anna Maria (Mary)". Can anyone help with her surname? 2) I am currently working on a project in nearby Princeton...and would love to know if David's burial site is known. If someone has an answer, that would be great. If not, where could I start looking? David died in Amwell Twp., Hunterdon County in 1761. The IFFLANDT name has changed over the generations....it is also spelled IFFLAND, EFLAND, EVELAND, EPHLIN and EPHLAND. The descendants who remained in New Jersey favored the spelling EVELAND. Thanks! |
