HILL/PHILLIPS/ATKINSON
Jonathan HILL was born about 1749, probably in England. He immigrated to New
Jersey and made his home about 1769 in Amwell Township, Hunterdon Co. About
1770 he drove a team for Benjamin PHILLIPS across the mountains to what would
be Fayette Co. Pennsylvania. Benjamin PHILLIPS was also of Amwell Township.
He lived the rest of his life in Pennsylvania. He had some land transactions
with Joseph ATKINSON of Amwell Township. Many other Hills are named on the
tax rolls of Amwell Township, who may be relatives. They are Isaac, James,
John, Paul, Richard, Samuel, William, and South. Jonathan's sons and
grandchildren were named many of these names. I would be delighted to compare
notes with anyone researching these names, or engaging a professional.
