i. Rev. Joshua Wingate, H. Col. 1758, ordained in England, rector of St. Michael’s Church, Marblehead, MA.; m. Miss Sarah Treadwell of Ipswich, MA; had eight children. After 13 years he was driven from his parish for his political opinions and 3 years later was refused permission to remove his wife and children, but escaped to England and became a chaplain at Halifax, N.S., where he died in 1806, aged 68.

He was loyal to his mother country. For the last 26 years of his life he was rector of St. Lukes Church, Annapolis, N.S., where he d. in 1808. His widow d. there in 1818.

RUTH WEEKS SMITH, b. Jan. 19, 1772 Newbury, VT.; d. Nov. 18, 1861 Bath; m.. March 17, 1789 in Bath to James Smith son of Joseph, b. ______1732 Sharon, CT; d. June 23, 1800 and Naomi Johns, d. June 16, 1831, age 92 years. Both are buried in the Carbee private cemetery in Bath. James Smith was a revolutionary soldier as a private under Capt. Timothy Barrow’s Regiment. Ruth Weeks Smith and James Smith are buried in the Pettyboro cemetery, Bath. They had nine daughters and one son all born Bath.
