• James BLAIR - 1 Jan 1840 - 7 Aug 1916
  Obituary from an unknown Newspaper in Pender, dates are unknown, it was just in my family files...
  James Blair was born in County Antrim, Ireland, near Belfast, Jan. 1st, 1840, and departed this life at Thurston, Nebraska, August 7th, 1916, aged 76 years, 7 months and 7 days.
  After his marriage to Miss Hannah Mayberry of County Derry, they emigrated to America in Dec. 1880, locating in Wayne county, Nebraska. From there he became a pioneer settler in Thurston county West of Pender. For a number of years he engaed successfully in farming in this and Wayne County. Some seven years ago he located his home at Thurston. Mr. Blair had been a man of industry and vigorous health until quite recently, his last fatal illness being only of a week's duration.
  The funeral obsequies were largely attended on Wenesday afternoon, at the Presbyterian church, having been dedicated in covenant erlation in childhood, and clung through life to "the faith of his fathers, holy faith! We will be true to thee till Death!" Interment was had in Pender cemetery.
  Mr. Blair leaves to mourn him his wife and eight children, Thomas, James, John, Robert, Jane, Maggie, Alma, and Elsie. These all, with the exception of the youngest, are married and have homes of their own. Five children had preceded him to the spirit world.
  Tribute to his memory as an honest and industrious man and good citizen is given by his many friends and neighbors as well as sympathy to the bereaved wife and family.
