William Ulysses Cornwell was born on Nov 29, 1891 on a farm south of Pender, in Cuming County, Nebraska, and died on Dec 11, 1963 in Pender at the age of 72.

He married Alta Emily Chambers on Mar 8, 1911 in the Presbyterian Church in Winnebago, Thurston County, Nebraska. She was born Aug 4, 1893 near Winnebago and died Jun 3, 1972 at the age of 78. She was the daughter of Albert Miner Chambers and Mary Grier.

William's delayed birth certificate, filed Jan 22, 1942, shows his father as Ulysses S. Cornwell, white, born in 1864 in Medora, Indiana, and his mother as Susan Thompson, white, born in 1873 in Omaha, Nebraska. The attendant at his birth was Dr. Mattie Arthur, deceased in 1942.

William Ulysses Cornwell lived on the farm on which he was born for about three years, then moved with his parents to the Herman and Blair, Nebraska area where he attended school. In May, 1909, at age 17, he moved with his parents to a farm near Walthill, Thurston County, Nebraska.

After marriage, he farmed in the Walthill area for seven years, then moved to Montana for three years. In 1921 his family moved to Pender.

He was baptized in the summer of 1935 and was a charter member of the Pender Assembly of God church. He served as a Sunday school teacher and board member.

He was a rural mail carrier for forty years, and was awarded a safe-driving medal for his years of service without an accident.

He was buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery southwest of Pender, Nebraska.
