Wallace Wellington Novell was born October 27, 1877 to William Walter Novell and Mary Jane (Retan) Novell in Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska. He was a cook by trade. He lived most of his life in Columbus. However, at the time of his death on January 28, 1916 he was living and working in Madison, Nebraska. He was found on the steps of the church in Tarnov and taken to Columbus and then to St. Mary’s Hospital where he died. Cause of death was given as Bright’s disease with which he had suffered for some time. He was an honorary member of the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Royal Highlanders. Rev. Harry Huntington, a Methodist Pastor, officiated at the funeral. He is buried in the Columbus Cemetery.
