DIED
CZAPLA--Andrew M. Czapla, 84, of 669 24th Ave., died Thursday at Columbus Community Hospital following a lingering illness.
    Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Rev. Laurin Buzynski officiating. Burial is in St. Stanislaus Cemetery at Duncan.
    Visitation is after 2 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
    Mr. Czapla was born Sept. 7, 1898 in Polk County, the son of Frank and Mary Brigg Czapla. He attended school at Duncan. On Jan. 18, 1927, he married Emma Bugay at Krakow.
    Mr. Czapla lived in Fullerton and Bruno and was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.
    Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Irene (Mrs. Phil) Donaghue of David City and Roberta Buresh of Columbus; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Victoria Starostka of Columbus and Edna Ross of DeSoto, Kan.
    Mr. Czapla was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.--[submitted by Marge Galus Sandlier]

WASS--Frank Wass, 89, of 1221 3rd St., died Wednesday night at Grand Island Veteran's Hospital following a lingering illness.
    Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Rev. Laurin Buzynski O.F.M. officiating. Burial, with military graveside services, is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
    Visitation is after 1 p.m. Sunday at McKown Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
    Mr. Wass was born Jan. 7, 1894 in Columbus, the son of Anton and Mary Ann Dula Wass. He was educated at St. Francis Academy and lived in Columbus all his life.
    Mr. Wass was a painter. He was a World War I Army veteran, serving as a private in Medical Department General Hospital No. 28.
    Mr. Wass was a charter member of Hartman Post 84, America Legion, and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
    Surviving are two sisters, Josephine Cody and Celia Wass, both of Columbus; nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

GROTELUSCHEN--Services for Helena (Mrs. Henry) Groteluschen, 80, of 2707 27th St., are 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Leigh. Rev. Nathan Houfek will officiate. A familiy prayer service at 1:45 p.m. Burial is in the parish cemetery.
    Visitation is after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church.
    Mrs. Groteluschen was born Dec. 25, 1902 in Oldenburg (Bissel) Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Cohrs. She married Henry A. Groteluschen on Sept. 2, 1927 in Grossenkneten, Germany, and came to the United States after her marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Groteluschen settled in the Leigh community, remaining there until 1967 when they moved to Columbus.
    Mrs. Groteluschen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Leigh and the Ladies Aid.
    She died Monday morning at her home.
    Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Lorraine (Mrs. Leonard) Vacha of Clarkson and Luella Daniels of Columbus; two sons, Carl of Leigh and Henry of Columbus; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a half sister, Martha, and a half brother, Otto, both of Germany.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, a grandchild, a great-grandchild and a half-brother.
    The family suggests memorials to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

MOLCZYK--Anna D. Molczyk, 79, of Columbus, died Sunday at Columbus Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
    Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Isidore Church, with Rev. Floyd A. Wessling officiating. Burial is in St. Michael Cemetery in Tarnov.
    Visitation is after 2 p.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m Tuesday.
    Mrs. Molczyk was born Feb. 22, 1904, in Tarnov, the daughter of Stanley and Sophia Syslo Barnas. She attended St. Michael's School in Tarnov and married Thomas M. Molczyk May 30, 1927, in Tarnov.
    A housewife, Mrs. Mosczyk lived in the Albion area until 1956, when she moved to Columbus. She was a member of St. Isidore Church.
    Surviving are a son, Thomas S. of Columbus; three daughters, Mary Lou (Mrs. Clarence) Shemek of Platte Center, Rose Ann (Mrs. Paul) Braun of Columbus and Anita (Mrs. Ray) Ksiazek of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Monica (Mrs. Phil) Rosenthal of Omaha, Theola (Mrs. Ben) Chohon of Columbus and Helen (Mrs. Isidore) Kwapnioski of Tarnov.

PAPROCKI--Josephine Paprocki, 90, of 1516 Eighth St., died Saturday at Columbus Community Hospital following a long illness.
    Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Revs. Laurin Buzynski, Joe Miksch and Russ Monzu officiating. Burial is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
    Visitation is after 2 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home. A St. Theresa rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, and will be followed by a parish rosary at 7:30.
    Mrs. Paprocki was born Sept. 15, 1893, at Tarnov, the daughter of Blase and Mary Barnes Chochon. On Oct. 19, 1909, she married Steve Paprocki at St. Michael's Church in Tarnov and was a homemaker. She lived in Tarnov and Richland until 1957 when she moved to Columbus. She was a member of St. Anthony Church and St. Theresa Sodality.
    Surviving are two sons, Edwin of Columbus and Lucian of Clarkson; two daughters, Theresa (Mrs. Leo) Kosiba and Clementine (Mrs. Frank A.) Kosiba, both of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; one brother, Alois Chochon of Columbus; two sisters, Kathryn Matya and Anna Chochon, both of Columbus.
