JOHNSON--Funeral Services Saturday For Michael Johnson
Funeral services for Michael R. Johnson, 64, a veteran of World War I, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bonaventure Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. Roch Hettinger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion.
Mr. Johnson, a lifetime resident of Columbus, died Tuesday in the Veterans hospital in Grand Island where he was a patient the past three weeks.
The body will lie in state at the McKown Funeral Home chapel from 11 a.m. Friday until the hour of the service. Rosary will be said at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the McKown chapel.
Mr. Johnson, son of the late Thomas H. and Mary Fleming Johnson, was born in Columbus Oct. 21, 1890. He received his education in the rural schools and St. Francis Academy, now St. Bonaventure school.
He served in the 34th Infantry from June 30, 1917 until August 9, 1919, including 11 months overseas.
On April 7, 1926 he married Anna Ruth at St. Bonaventure Catholic church. Mr. Johnson farmed in this community for about 20 years, and in recent years he worked as a laborer in Grand Island and Columbus.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Al of Grand Island and Brother Paulinus of St. Joseph Seminary, Teutopolis, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Norre of O'Neill and Miss Mildred of Denver; one granddaughter, Debra Lynn Norre; five brothers, J.T., Phil and Joe, all of Columbus, Edward of Omaha, Frank of Pueblo, Colo.; four sisters, Nell Johnson of Columbus, Mrs. Agnes Gunderman of Atlantic, Ia., Mrs. Sam Kluck of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Romeo Riley of Minneapolis.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Art and Hugh, and a sister, Mary.

Burial was in the Catholic cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Hartman Post 84 of the American Legion. Commander Roy Lang was assisted by Adjutant Vern Beckman, Clyde Simpson was color bearer, David Miller and John Brentzel were the buglers, and Jack Bates commanded the firing squad, Ray Van Ackeren, Charley Dickey, Bill Bates and Bruce Gilmore. Immediate relatives attending from a distance were Al Johnson of Grand Island; Miss Mildred Johnson of Denver; Brother Paulinus Johnson of St. Joseph Seminary, Teutopolis, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Norre and daughter of O'Neill; Frank Johnson of Pueblo, Colo; Edward Johnson of Omaha; Mrs. Agnes Gunderman of Atlantic, Ia., Mrs. Romeo Riley of Minneapolis, Minn.; and other relatives from Dixon, Ill., Grand Island and Shelby.

KORTE--Last Rites For Otto A. Korte On Sunday
Funeral services for Otto A. Korte, 65, Rt. 1, Columbus, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the family home and at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church. The Rev. Martin Borneman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral chapel from 11 a.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday when it will be taken to the family home, there to lie in state until the services.
Mr. Korte, a lifetime resident of Platte county, died suddenly of a heart attack about 8:45 a.m. Thursday at his farm home in Sherman township.
Son of the late Carl and Elise Viergutz Korte, he was born in Sherman township on June 13, 1889 and received his education at Christ Lutheran school.
He married Bertha Grotelueschen on Jan. 25, 1914 at Christ Lutheran church. Since his marriage he farmed in Sherman township.
A member of Christ Lutheran church, Mr. Korte was currently serving his first term as an elder. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran school board from 1926 to 1952 and was a past president of the Laymen’s League in which he currently held the office of treasurer.
Mr. Korte had served on the Sherman township board as justice of the peace since 1939.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Henrietta) Wilke and three sons, Paul, Walter and Vernon, all of Columbus; two brothers, Ernest of Columbus and Arthur of Fremont; three sisters, Mrs. Emil H. (Ella) Wilke and Mrs. Frieda Bakenhus of Columbus, Mrs. Arthur (Anna) Marty of Leigh; and eight grandchildren.
His parents and brother, Walter, preceded him in death.

DRAKE--Ralph D. Drake, 67, a long-time resident of Columbus, died about 1:30 a.m. today at his home after a year's illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Gass Funeral chapel with the Rev. Carl R. Goldenstein officiating. Burial will be in the Columbus cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral home at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Mr. Drake, the son of Almon and Minnie Elley Drake, was born May 21, 1887 at Kearney and received his education there.
A resident of Columbus since his teens, Mr. Drake worked for the Burlington Railroad for some time and later engaged in the plastering business with Charles Deland for more than 30 years. In recent years he worked at the city tool house until his retirement three years ago.
He was a member of the Izaak Walton league.
Mr. Drake married Florence Hagel in Columbus on August 16, 1910 and she survives him. Other survivors are his son, Ralph P. of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. P.L. Hulsebus, Omaha; and two grandchildren. His parents and two brothers, Floyd and Ward, preceded him in death.JAWORSKI--Mrs. F. Jaworski Dies; Funeral Services Tuesday
Mrs. Frank Jaworski, 62, Tarnov, died unexpectedly about 4 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's hospital. She had been hospitalized for only one day.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic church at Tarnov with the Rev. Fr. Knute Lobinski officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the McKown Funeral chapel from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, then at the family home near Tarnov from 3 p.m. Monday until the hour of the service. Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Monday at the family home.
Mrs. Jaworski, the former Victoria Jarosz, was born Jan. 18, 1893 at Tarnov. She was the daughter of Matt and Cunegunda Kwapnioski Jaroz [sic].
She married Frank Jaworski on Oct. 9, 1912 at St. Michael's Catholic church, and they lived on a farm one mile south of Tarnov since their marriage.
Surviving are her husband; five children, Mrs. Steve (Barbara) Shymqwich and Mrs. Edmund (Clara) Marcinski, both of Omaha, Sigmund of Platte Center, Mrs. Lewellyn (Dolores) Krings of Columbus, and Cpl. Hilarion, stationed at Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, Joe M. Jarosz of Cedar Rapids, Mike Jarosz of Tarnov; two sisters, Mrs. Roman Rybinski of Clarks, Mrs. Joe M. Torczon of Platte Center; and six grandchildren.
Her parents and sister, Mrs. Mary Starzec of Cedar Rapids, preceded her in death.

KORTE--Korte Funeral – Funeral services for Otto A. Korte, 65, Rt. 1, Columbus, were held Sunday afternoon at Christ Lutheran church with the Rev. Martin Borneman, paster, in charge. KRZYCKI--Paul Krzycki dies; funeral services Tuesday
Paul Krzycki, 84, died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday at the Mory’s nursing home after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic church with Rev. Fr. John Schniegenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gahan Funeral Home today from noon until 5 p.m. when it will be taken to the home of his son, Charles Krzycki at 1410 9 St. The rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. there.
Mr. Krzycki was born in Poland on June 14, 1870, the son of Peter and Mary Krzycki. As a small boy he came to the United States with his parents where they settled in Platte county in 1884.
On January 30, 1900 he was married to Katherine Gembica at S.S. Peter and Paul church at Krakow. After their marriage he farmed in Platte, Sherman and Nancy [sic] counties, retiring in 1943 when they moved to Columbus.
He is survived by four sons: Phillip of Genoa, Louis of Omaha, Leo and Charles of Columbus; one daughter; Mrs. Martin (Josephine) Borowiak of Silver Creek; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren;; four brothers: Frank of Columbus, Tony and Charles of Genoa, John of Silver Creek; one sister, Mrs. Helen Borowiak of Silver Creek. He was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters: Mrs. Joseph (Clara) Koziol and Helen; one brother and two sisters.

KLUG--Herman Klug, 81, dies; funeral services Tuesday
Herman Klug, 81, 1856 22nd avenue, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the Lutheran hospital. Mr. Klug, who had been hospitalized for one week, was in failing health since April of 1954.
Funeral services will be held at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Gass Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran church, Shell Creek, with the Rev. Leo S. LaFontaine officiating. Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral Home until the hour of service.
Mr. Klug was born March 4, 1874, in Abstagen, Germany the son of Carl and Sophia Peters Klug. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany.
Mr. Klug came to the United States in 1898, and settled in Colfax county. On Jan. 30, 1902, he was married to Anna Klug at the home of her parents. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1952. They farmed in Colfax county until 1949, at which time they retired and moved to Columbus.
He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran church, Shell Creek, and served as treasurer for 18 years. He also served as treasurer of Dist. 8, Colfax county for 25 years.
Mr. Klug is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Charlotte) Kasper, Columbus; three sons, Werner, Paul and Clemens of Richland; and seven grandchildren. His parents, five sisters and four brothers and one grandson preceded him in death.
The family requests no flowers.

GREGORIOUS--Mrs. Gregorius dies; funeral services Monday
Mrs. William J. Gregorius, sr., 78, Columbus, died at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday at a Norfolk hospital after a lingering illness of several years.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Bonaventure Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. Roch Hettinger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Sunday until the hour of the services. Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gregorius, the former Elizabeth Farley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Farley, was born Oct. 15, 1876, at Farmington, Conn. She lived in Columbus nearly all her life and was a graduate of Columbus High school.
Her marriage to William J. Gregorius took place June 26, 1907 at St. Bonaventure Catholic church. He preceded her in death August 19, 1954.
Mrs. Gregorius was a former member of St. Anne's society of St. Bonaventure parish and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a former member of the Entre Nous Kensington and had served as secretary of the Does, an organization which once functioned as a women's auxiliary to the Elks Lodge.
She is survived by four children, Walter C., William J. jr., and James F., all of Columbus, and Mrs. Tom (Elizabeth) McCray of Long Beach, Calif., and 11 grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother, George, and sister, Mrs. Mary Gallagher.
The family requests that memorials be made in the form of contributions to the St. Bonaventure parish building fund.

KUESTER--Last rites for John Kuester on Tuesday
Funeral services for John F. Kuester, 83, Rt. 2, Columbus, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Gass Funeral chapel and at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. A.H. Guettler, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery.

Mr. Kuester, a retired farmer, died Friday morning in the Lutheran hospital after a month's illness.
Born in Cuming county, Neb., on March 7, 1872, he was the son of John and Caroline Meissner Kuester. He married Clara Frese on Feb. 13, 1896 in Washington county Kans.
Mr. Kuester farmed in Madison county, Neb., for about 25 years and near Creston for two years. He retired from farming 25 years ago and has since lived in this community.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Reinhardt of Long Beach, Calif., and Elmer of Minnespolis [sic], Minn.; five daughters, Mrs. John (Lena) Osten of Columbus, Mrs. Ben (Clara Wambsganss of Elmdale, Kans., Mrs. Ernest (Lydia) Cirio of San Gabriel, Calif., Mrs. Ed (Irene) Goering of Bell, Calif., and Mrs. Elfreda Dockwilder of Fremont; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A daughter, Beata, and son, Hermann, preceded him in death.

KARAS--Milic Karas dies; funeral services on Tuesday
Milic Karas, 71, a retired railroadman, died Saturday afternoon at the Morys Nursing home. He had been ill the past year.
Funeral services wil [sic] be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. John Schniegenberg, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.

Mr. Karas, a native of Austria, was born June 15, 1884, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Karas. He came to the United States about the year 1910 and after living in Pittsburgh for a short time, he moved to Omaha where he was employed as a repairman for the C.B.& Q. Railroad until his retirement in November, 1953. He lived in Columbus since last October.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Surviving are his wife, the former Anna Zagar, whom he married soon after his arrival in the United States; two sons, John of Las Vegas, Nev., and Stanley of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Anne) Doman of Columbus and six grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death.

JOHANNES--Emil O. Johannes dies; funeral services Thursday
Emil O. Johannes, 25, Columbus, died about 9 a.m. Monday at the state hospital in Beatrice where he was a patient for 19 years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the Gass Funeral chapel and at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. A.H. Guettler officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran cemetery.
Emil Otto Johannes was born at Columbus on Oct. 7, 1930, the son of Henry and Alma Twiestmeyer Johannes.
He is survived by his parents; sister, Mrs. Carl R. (Helen) Bohner of Columbus; brother, Carl of Columbus; four nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gustave, and another brother who died in infancy.

JOHNSTON--Twin Dies - Jeffrey Lee Johnston, two-day-old twin son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Johnston, 1308 14th street, died Saturday at St. Mary's hospital. The body was taken from the McKown Funeral home this morning to Onawa, Ia., for services and burial. The infant is survived by his parents; twin brother, Jerry Linn; another brother, James L.; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Johnston of Onawa, Ia., and Mr. and Mrs. L.V. Vigen of Fort Collins, Colo.; and three great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Hatt of Onawa, Ia., and Walter Peterson of Fergus Falls, Minn.

KLUCK--Mrs. Adolph Kluck dies; funeral services Monday
Mrs. Adolph Kluck, 77, of Rt. 3, Schuyler, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday in the Schuyler Memorial hospital. She had been in failing health the past two years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:15 p.m. Monday at the Gass Funeral home in Columbus and at 2 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran church, Shell Creek. The Rev. Roy Wingate of Schuyler will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral home after 11 a.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Kluck, the former Marie Heibel, daughter of John and Anna Asche Heibel, was born in Platte county June 18, 1878 and received her education in the rural schools of Bismark township. She lived in Platte and Colfax counties all her life.
On Oct. 20, 1903, she was married to Adolph Kluck at St. John's Lutheran church, Shell Creek. She was a lifetime member of St. John's church, hvaing been baptized and confirmed there.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Mrs. Elvin (Irene) DeBower of Schuyler; two sons, Edwin of Richland and Raymond of Schuyler; one brother, Otto Heibel of Columbus; five sisters, Mrs. Henry Hoppe, Mrs. Alma Heibel, Mrs. Bertha Greiner and Mrs. Fred Zabel, all of Columbus, and Mrs. Robert Steppat of Linwood; and five grandsons.
Mrs. Kluck was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents; two brothers, John and Louis Heibel; her twin sister, Mrs. John Saalfeld, and two other sisters, Sophie and Minnie Heibel.

KRAMER--Veteran Dies - Fred Kramer, 67, a former resident of Boone county at Petersburg, died Saturday morning at Ford Mead, S.D., Veterans hospita. He was a veteran of World War I. KARLIN--Services for Mrs. Jacob Karlin on Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Jacob Karlin, 85, long-time resident of Columbus, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the family resident [sic] 1221 15th street, and at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran church. The Rev. A.H. Guettler will officiate and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral chapel from 11 a.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday when it will be taken to the family home there to lie in state until the services.
Mrs. Karlin, who had been bedfast for five years, died Wednesday morning at her home.
She was born Emelie Eichhorst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Eichhorst, on Oct. 26, 1869 at Florowo, Kaiserdorf, Germany. In February, 1887 she came with her family to Columbus and since that time she lived in this community.
Her marriage to Jacob Karlin took place Feb. 14, 1889 in Columbus. They observed their 66th wedding anniversary this year.
Mrs. Karlin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and during her active years she was a member of the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Reinhold of Ogallala, Herman of Columbus and Emil of Fremont; two daughters, Elvina, and Mrs. B.F. (Hildegard) Gardner, both of Columbus; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marie; her parents; a sister, Mrs. Augusta Bethke of Walla Walla, Wash., and several sisters and brothers who died in Germany.

KAVANAUGH--Dies in Omaha - Sister __? Marcella, 78 (nee Theresa Kavanaugh) died Tuesday at St. Catherine's hospital in Omaha. She was born near Columbus and baptized at St. Bonaventure church. Sister Marcella was director of nurses in the obstetrical ward at St. Catherine's hospital the last 44 years. Dr. Dan Kavanaugh, a nephew, acted as one of the pallbearers at the funeral today. Mrs. Carl Herrod, a niece, also attended.

JENKINS--Former resident of Columbus dies at Norfolk
Mrs. Lee A. Jenkins, sr., 64, formerly of Columbus, died Friday morning at her home in Norfolk. She had been ill the past year.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday at the Gass chapel in Columbus, with the Rev. Adrian Edgar of Norfolk officiating and burial will be in the Columbus cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral Home from 11 a.m., Monday until the service.
She was born Susan Bouten, daughter of Samuel L. and Alice E. Hoover Bouten, on Aug. 20, 1891 at Dakota City.
On June 30, 1915, she married Lee A. Jenkins, at Madison. They resided at Columbus, moved to a farm northwest of Madison, and then to Norfolk.
Mrs. Jenkins was affiliated with the Methodist church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Norfolk.
She is survived by four sons, Lee, jr., of Lindsay, Edward of St. Edward, George and Elton of Norfolk; three daughters, Betty of Norfolk, Mrs. M.R. (Mary) Stroh of Fremont, and Mrs. Charles (Bonnie) Strand of Nickerson; 10 grandchildren; one sister and one brother. Her husband, her parents and a sister preceded her in death.

KOHLUND--Mrs. Frank Kolund [sic] dies; services on Wednesday
Mrs. Frank Kohlund, 61, Columbus, died suddenly of a heart attack about 6 a.m. today in a Norfolk hospital. She had been ill the past year and a half.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bonaventure Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. Roch Hettinger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the McKown Funeral chapel from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the hour of the services. Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
Mrs. Kohlund, the former Eleanor Cecilia Otterpohl, was born July 5, 1894 at Madison, the daughter of Bernard and Mary Otterpohl. She attended school at Madison.
On Feb. 18, 1914 she was married to Frank Kohlund at Madison, and they lived on farms in that community until 1932 when they came to Columbus. Mr. Kohlund died Feb. 27, 1954.
Mrs. Kohlund was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic church and St. Anne's society.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. W.D. (Doris) McDonald of Columbus; a son, Frank, of McCook; her foster mother, Mrs. Martha Otterpohl of Denver; three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Ganser of Grand Junction, Colo., Miss Lucille Otterpohl and Mrs. Gunda Swarens, both of Denver; and four grandchidren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mrs. C.H. (Ramona) Nichols, who died in April, 1955; her parents and a half-brother, Edward Otterpohl.

KESSLER--Last rites for Mrs. C.C. Kessler on Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Conrad C. Kessler, 67, Columbus, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Gass Funeral chapel with the Rev. Frankin E. Wales officiating. Burial will be in the Columbus cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral chapel after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Mrs. Kessler, in failing health the past two years, died suddenly at 10:40 a.m. Monday at her home, 2808 20th street.
The former Anna Marie Bauer, daughter of Henry and Katherine Lebsack Bauer, she was born at Hastings July 25, 1888 and received her education in the Hastings public schools. After her graduation she worked in her father's grocery as bookkeeper and clerk.
She was married to Conrad C. Kessler on Jan. 21, 1916 in Hastings. Since their marriage they have resided in Columbus.
Mrs. Kessler was a member of the Federated church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Union Pacific Old Timers Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Smoots, jr., of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. W.J. (Janice) Wishon of Kansas City, Mo; three sisters, Mrs. H.F. McCulla of Springfield, Ill., Mrs. A.B. Gorman of Lincoln and Mrs. G.H. Schiefelbein of Hastings; two brothers, Joe and Fred Bauer of Hastings; and three grandchildren, Sandra and Tom Wishon and Jimmy Smoots.
Her parents and one brother, George Bauer, preceded her in death.

KILTS--Mrs. F.P. Kilts died Monday in local hospital
Mrs. Franklin P. Kilts, 78, of 2502 17th street, died about 4:15 p.m. Monday at the Lutheran hospital after a short illness.
Burial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Magnolia, Ia. The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral home in Columbus Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Mrs. Kilts, the former Lillie May Penrod, was born Nov. 4, 1877, in Iowa. She married Franklin P. Kilts on Dec. 1, 1897 at Modale, Ia. and they came to Columbus about 35 years ago. Mr. Kilts died August 3, 1954.
Surviving are a nephew in California and a cousin, Mrs. Charles Jackson of Modale, Ia. Her parents and one sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Kilts was a member of the Federated church and the Royal Neighbors. She was a former member of the Ladies Aid and Eastern Star.

JOHNSTON--David Johnston dies; services on Wednesday
David F. Johnston, 16, of Rt. 2, Columbus, died early Sunday morning at the Lutheran hospital.
David, an eighth grade student at Junior High school, was a victim of acute leukemia. He had been in failing health the past month.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at First Methodist church, with the Rev. Paul Hillman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in Roselawn Memorial Park.
The body is lying in state at the Gass Funeral Home until the hour of the service.
David Frank Johnston was born Sept. 5, 1939, in Columbus, the son of Frank and Dorothea Taylor Johnson. Before entering Junior High, where he participated in basketball and track, he attended Third and First Ward schools.
He was a member of the Junior Fire Patrol in 1952-53, gaining the rank of assistant chief, and had also been a Cub Scout.
He attended First Methodist church.
Surviving are his parents; a sister, Kathryn, 18; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F.H. Taylor.
