JOURDAN--R.E. Jourdan, Bakery Owner, Dies Saturday
Funeral Services Will Be Held Tuesday

    Raymond E. Jourdan, well known Columbus bakery owner, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Sanitorium, Wheat Ridge, Colo., where he had been undergoing medical and surgical treatment. His unexpected death resulted from embolism.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Immanuel Lutheran church here, with the Rev. A.H. Guettler officiating, Burial will be in the Columbus cemetery. Body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral home from 3 p.m. today until 1:30 p.m. tomorrow.
    Mr. Jourdan was born in Omaha Nov. 11, 1905, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Jourdan. He received his early schooling in Omaha and was a graduate of Omaha Technical high school. After graduation he took an accounting course in the School of International Accounting.
    In April 1928 he came to Columbus as secretary-treasurer of the Columbus Baking Co. In 1935 he returned to Omaha where he was associated with his brother, Howard, in the Cascade laundry.
    Two years later he came back to Columbus to establish the Jourdan Bakery at 2504 Thirteenth street, which he and Mrs. Jourdan soon developed into one of the city's substantial business establishments.
    On April 9, 1927, in Omaha, he married Miss Martha Plageman, who survives him.
    Also surviving are one daughter Mrs. Vernon Trofholz, Columbus; his mother, Mrs. D.J. Jourdan, Omaha; four brothers, Arthur, Henry, Howard and Herbert of Omaha; three sisters, Mrs. F.J. Klabens, Mrs. Otto Gernandt, Miss Harriett of Omaha.
    Affiliated with the Rotary, he had been president of the local club and had recently been awarded an eight-year perfect attendance pin. He was a member of the Wayside country club, the Izaak Walton and the chamber of commerce.
    Commenting today upon the death of Mr. Jourdan, H.P. Behlen, president of the chamber of commerce, voiced the sentiment of the community when he said, "Ray Jourdan had a multitude of friends among Columbus businessmen. His friendly attributes will be missed by all."
    Sports--Hunting, fishing, and particularly baseball--comprised his favorite recreation. At one time, soon after his graduation from high school, he was a member of the Omaha baseball team in the Western leaque, resigning, however, when he decided upon a business career instead. He played baseball in the night league during his first stay in Columbus.
    Religiously, he was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran church here.

JOURDAN--Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Raymond Jourdan
    Funeral services for Raymond E. Jourdan, 44-year-old Columbus bakery owner, were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Immanual Lutheran church, with the Rev. A.H. Guettler officiating. Burial was made in the Columbus cemetery.
    Mr. Jourdan died Saturday at the Lutheran Sanitorium at Wheat [picture of Mr. Jourdan] Ridge, Colo., where he had been undergoing medical and surgical treatment.
    Pallbearers at the funeral were: L.C. Heine of Omaha, Warren Albert, Milton Galley, Elmer Miessler, Howard Welch, Leonard Miller, Walter Sinke and Carl Herrguth.

JAZWIECK--Funeral Services Monday For Mrs. Mary Jazwieck
    Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jazwieck, 1522 Ninth street, will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic church, with the Rev. Fr. Chester Cymanski officiating.
    Mrs. Jazwieck, 70, died at 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's hospital, following an illness of several months.
    The body will lie in state at the McKown funeral home after 7 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. Saturday, when it will be taken to the home where it will remain till hour of the services. Burial will be made in the Tarnov cemetery, where her husband is also buried.
    The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kampovitcz, Mrs. Jazwieck was born Oct. 29, 1879, at Shell Creek. She received her education in Polk county.
    In November, 1899, she was married to Stanislaus (Charles) Jazwieck at Pilsno and they made their home on a farm at Platte Center. Mr. Jazwieck died on Feb. 22, 1941, and for the past four years Mrs. Jazwieck had been living in Columbus.
    Mrs. Jazwieck was a member of St. Theresa's sodality of St. Anthony's church.
    Besides her husband she was preceded in death by three children and one brother.
    Survivors include her children, Mrs. Mary Zimmerman, Mrs. Ann Glenn, Mrs. Ceil Kinney and Joseph Jazwieck, all of Detroit, Mich., Edward Jazwieck of Everett, Wash., Mrs. Agnes Ruppert of Madison, and Frances and Elizabeth of Omaha. There are 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One sister, Miss Anna Kampovitcz, resides at Shelby.
    Members of St. Anthony's parish will recite the rosary at 7:30 Sunday evening at the home.

JAZWIECK--Last Rites Held Monday For Mrs. Mary Jazwieck
    Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jazwieck, who died Thursday afternoon at St. Mary's hospital, were held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic church.
    The Rev. Chester Cyamanski, O.F.M., officiated at the requiem high mass. Burial was made in the Tarnov cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Donald Jazwieck, Richard Zimmerman, Floyd Niedbalski, Robert Nosal, Mike Valnek and Arch Nosal.

JOHNSON--Dies Tuesday - Oscar A. Johnson, 83, died Tuesday at St. Mary's hospital. A bachelor, he has resided in Columbus for several years. He was the son of the late Louis and Mari Rash Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Gass Funeral chapel, with the Rev. Sitherel of Newman Grove, officiating. Burial will be in the Hope cemetery at Newman Grove.

JOHNSON--Last Rites for Oscar Johnson Held On Friday
    Funeral services for Oscar A. Johnson, 83, who died March 21 at St. Mary's hospital, were held Friday morning at the Gass funeral home. The Rev. Norman Smitheram, pastor of the Methodist church at Newman Grove, officiated. Committal was in Hope cemetery at Newman Grove.
    Born Dec. 31, 1866, at Ludlow, Ill., he came to Nebraska with his parents at an early age, settling with them on a farm in Boone county, where he lived for many years. Later he moved to Columbus where he made his home for the past 20 years, staying most of the time at the Y.M.C.A.
    Surviving him are two nephews, Enor K. Matson of Helena, Mont., Clarence Matson of Newman Grove and one niece Miss Winnie Matson, also of Newman Grove.

KAMINSKI--Father Dies - V.S. Kaminski, of Elba, father of Mrs. C.C. Fletcher, Ed and Victor Kaminski of Columbus, died Friday at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Elba. Mrs. Fletcher had been called home several days because of her father's illness. Also attending the funeral will be the Sal Fletcher family.

KNEIFEL--Last Rites For Frank Kneifel At 10 A.M. Monday
    Funeral rites for Frank Herman Kneifel, 51, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bonaventure Catholic church, followed by burial in the parish cemetery.
    Mr. Kneifel, a Union Pacific Railroad employe, died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's hospital where he had been taken following a heart attack.
    The body will lie in state at McKown Funeral home from 4 p.m. Saturday until 1 p.m. Sunday when it will be taken to the family residence, 2503 Eighth street, there to lie in state until the services. Rosary will be recited at the home at 8 p.m. Sunday.
    Mr. Kneifel, son of the late Josef and Rosa Borke Kneifel, was born June 29, 1898 in Columbus. On Nov. 21, 1932 he was married to Pauline Dolc at St. Bonaventure church.
    A life-long resident of Columbus, Mr. Kneifel worked as an auto mechanic until about nine years ago when he was employed by the railroad.
    Surviving him are his wife, two children, Elaine, and Jerome at home; two sisters, Mrs. Rose West, Portland, Ore., and Mrs. August Rickner, Columbus; four brothers, Art, Portland, Ore.; Joe, Yakima, Wash.; Carl and Bill, Columbus.

KELLEY--Former Columbus Boy Dies in Peru
    Paul Kelley, 32, former Columbus boy, died of polio yesterday in Lima, Peru, according to a message received today by Mrs. Harold Kramer. He had been ill only two days. The body will be taken to South Bend, Ind., for burial, but time of its arrival there is yet undetermined.
    The message came from his mother, Mrs. M.J. Kelley, Montrose, Calif., a sister of the late Harold Kramer and of Mrs. George Williams of Albion.
    Paul Kelley was born in Columbus. When he was seven years old the family moved to Chicago. Later they located in South Bend, Ind., where both Paul and his elder brother, Robert, became graduates of Notre Dame university. During World War II he was a major in the U.S. army intelligence service in New Guinea and Australia.
    After the war he and his mother returned to Chicago and he entered the employ of an American exporting firm. He went to Lima, Peru, last November as foreign representative of the firm.
    He was not married.
    His mother and his brother, Robert, at whose home in Montrose, Calif., she has been since he went to Peru, survive him. His father died seven years ago at South Bend.

KNEIFEL--Final Rites For Frank Kneifel Held Monday
    Final rites for Frank H. Kneifel, 51, who died of a heart attack April 6 at St. Mary's hospital, were held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Bonaventure Catholic church. The Rev. Fr. Martin Wolter had charge of the services, and burial was made in the parish cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Joe Bogus, Leonard Bosak, Victor Johnson, Pete Treadway, John Novicki and Henry Pensick.
    Eighth grade classmates of Elaine Kneifel, daughter of the deceased, attended the funeral in a body. The four acolytes who served at the mass were also her classmates from St. Bonaventure school.

KLUEVER--Mrs. Mary Kluever Dies Today; Last Rites on Tuesday
    Mrs. Mary Kluever, 72, died shortly before 8 a.m. today at the Lutheran hospital, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks.
    Final rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the McKown funeral chapel, followed by burial in the Baptist cemetery at Platte Center. The Rev. Herbert Kyrk, pastor of the Free Church Chapel, will officiate at the services.
    The body will lie in state at McKown funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday until the funeral.
    Mrs. Kluever, daughter of Dietrich and Sophie Melahn Brunken, was born Sept. 1, 1877 in Platte county where she lived her entire life.
    On March 1, 1897 she was married to Herman A. Kluever in the Shell Creek Baptist church, and they resided many years at Platte Center. After her husband's death on June 28, 1920, Mrs. Kluever remained at Platte Center until Feb. 1, 1949 when she moved to Columbus.
    Survivors include: three sons, Walter and Alfred, Columbus, Heinrich, Platte Center; five daughters, Mrs. Nat (Shirley) Morgan and Mrs. Glenn (Dorothea) Morgan, San Francisco, Mrs. Fred (Alma) Krueger, Mrs. Albert (Clara) Goering, and Mrs. Herman (Mable) Goering, all of Platte Center; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Fred Mihulka, Columbus; two brothers John and Fred Brunken, Columbus; step-mother, Mrs. Theresa Chambers and two half-brothers, Walter Brunken and Roy Nelson, all of Chicago.

KLUEVER--Final Rites - Final rites for Mrs. Mary Kluever, 72, who died Saturday at the Lutheran hospital were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McKown funeral chapel. The Rev. Herbert Kyrk was in charge, and burial was in the Baptist cemetery at Platte Center. Miss Charlotte Messing sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Just As I Am," with Mrs. Ed Messing, accompanist. Pallbearers were: Glen, Ivan and Dean Goering, LeRoy Arlie and Neal Krueger. Relatives and friends attending the services were from Chicago, Cedar Rapids, Overton, Hastings, Schuyler and Glenvil.

KOON--Rites Today - Funeral rites were held at 10 a.m. today at Gass Funeral chapel for Ronald Lynn Koon, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Koon, Bellwood, who died a few hours after birth Wednesday at the Lutheran hospital. The Rev. Carl Goldenstein officiated at the services, and burial was made in the Columbus cemetery.

JARECKI--Dies Today - Mrs. Frank Jarecki, 82, died at 11:10 a.m. today at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Greenlee, 2922 Eighth street. The body has been taken to the Gass funeral home. Funeral arrangements and obituary will appear in a later edition of The Telegram.

JARECKI--Services For Mrs. Frank Jarecki On Thursday
    Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Jarecki, 82, will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic church, with the Rev. Fr. Chester Cymanski officiating. Burial will be made in St. Stanislaus cemetery, Duncan.
    Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Gass funeral chapel, where the body will lie in state until time of the services.
    Mrs. Jarecki died Tuesday at 11:10 a.m. at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Art Greenlee, 2922 Eighth street, where she had recently made her home. She had been in failing health the past two years.
    Nee Veronica, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Skorupa Podraza. She was born April 15, 1868 at Tarnov, Poland, and at the age of 5 came to the United States with her parents, who then made their home in Polk county.
    After her marriage to Frank Jarecki on Jan. 28, 1884 at Duncan, they farmed in Polk county until 1924, when they moved to Columbus. He preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1947.
    Mrs. Jarecki was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic church.
    Surviving are her 10 children: Stanley and Edward T., both of Genoa; Mrs. Josephine Stachura, Shelby; Mrs. Louise Chochon, Humphrey; Mrs. Felicia Swantek, Genoa; Mrs. Stella Shotkoski, Fullerton; Mrs. Anna Witnot, Burlington, Wis.; Mrs. Leona Powlowicz, Omaha; Mrs. Veronica Clark and Mrs. Bernice Greenlee, Columbus. There are 44 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
    Besides her husband, Mrs. Jarecki was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

JARECKI--Rites For Mrs. Frank Jarecki Held Thursday
    Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Jarecki, 82, were held at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony's Catholic church. The Rev. Fr. Loran Buzynski, O.F.M., was celebrant at the solemn high mass, with Rev. Fr. Martin Wolter as deacon, and the Rev. Fr. Chester Cymanski, subdeacon.
    Burial was made in St. Stanislaus cemetery at Duncan. Six grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers: Delbert Greenlee, Norman Jarecki, Lucian Shotkoski, Lawrence Swantek, Ted Stachura and Arthur Jarecki.

KUMMER--Otto Kummer Dies, Last Rites Tuesday
    Otto Kummer 86, pioneer Columbus resident, died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's hospital after a three months' illness. A life-time resident of this vicinity, he became ill shortly after his return from spending the winter in California.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Federated church, with the Rev. Franklin Wales, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in the Columbus cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral Home chapel from this afternoon until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until the hour of service.
    Born in Columbus
    Mr. Kummer, the son of the late Rudolf and Anna Klenchey Kummer, who came to this country from Switzerland, was born Sept. 13, 1863, in a "dugout" residence at the extreme southeastern part of Columbus. He was one of the first children born in the new town.
    His youth was spent on his parents' farm southwest of Columbus, and he was educated in local schools.
    He was married to Lana Olcott Jan. 1, 1890, at Osceola. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Stella Nelson of Columbus, and the late Helen Kummer, who passed away Dec. 2, 1924. His wife died March 19, 1913.
    Farmed Near Duncan
    Mr. Kummer farmed near Duncan until shortly after the turn of the century, when he retired and moved to Columbus. He retained ownership of the farm, however, and made frequent visits there through the years.
    After moving to Columbus, he served as a county supervisor and was for many years a member of the school board. At the time of his death he was serving as president of the Columbus cemetery board.
    Ardent Sportsman
    Mr. Kummer was an ardent sportsman, and even in his later years maintained his active interest in hunting and fishing.
    He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Nelson four grandchildren, Mrs. Pamelia Peppler of Albion, Mrs. Donna Smith and Dale Nelson of Columbus, and Miss Helen Nelson of North Platte; and three great grandchildren, Lana and Natalie Peppler, Albion, and Lloyd Smith of Columbus.
    His parents, wife, one daughter and three brothers, Robert, Rudolf and Albert, preceded him in death.

KOUPAL--Father Dies Mrs. ___ Weger __ has received word of the death of her father, Frank Koupal, 86, of Ord. Mr. Koupal, a pioneer lumberman of Nebraska, passed away this morning, and funeral services will be held Thursday at Ord. He is survived by three daughters and a son.

KUMMER--Final Rites For Otto Kummer Held Tuesday
    Final rites for Otto Kummer, 86, pioneer Columbus resident, were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Federated church, with the Rev. Franklin Wales, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the Columbus cemetery.
    Mr. Kummer, a life-time resident of this vicinity, died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's hospital, after a three months' illness.
    He had made his home in Columbus since the early part of this century when he had retired from his farm near Duncan. After moving to Columbus he served as a county supervisor and was for many years a member of the school board. At the time of his death he was serving as president of the Columbus cemetery board.
    Mr. Kummer was one of the first children born here. He was married to the late Lana Olcott on Jan. 1, 1890 at Osceola, and she preceded him in death in 1913.
    Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Stella Nelson, Columbus; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One daughter and three brothers also preceded him in death.
    Pallbearers at the funeral were D.D. Dudly, Arlin Neujahr, William and Adolph Schlingman, Andy Gumm and Dr. E.J. Jelden.

KOESTER--Mother Dies - Word has been received here that Mrs. Fredericka Koester, 93, of Battle Creek, died early this morning at a Norfolk hospital. She was the mother of Bertha and Clara Koester of the Blue Bird Shop. Funeral arrangements are pending.

KOENIG--Charles Koenig Dies Here Monday
    Charles Koenig, 71, former rural mail carrier, died about 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's hospital, following an illness of eight months.
    Funeral rites will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic church, with the Rev. Fr. Roch Hettinger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at the Gass funeral chapel from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the services, and rosary will be prayed there at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
    Mr. Koenig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rhinehardt Koenig, was born May 19, 1879 on a butler [sic] county farm. He received his education at St. Francis academy here, and in Fremont.
    He had been employed as a rural mail carrier on Rural Route 4 for more than 10 years.
    Mr. Koenig was a Catholic.
    He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clementine Vandewark of David City, and 10 nephews and nieces. Mr. Koenig was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

JAWORSKI--Final Rites For Mrs. Mary E. Jaworski Held Thursday
    Final rites for Mrs. Mary E. Jaworski, 56, former Coumbus resident, were held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic church, with the Rev. Chester Cymanski officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery here.
    Mrs. Jaworski died Saturday at St. Elizabeth's hospital, Lincoln. She had resided in Lincoln since 1919.
    Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Richard, James and Thomas Micek, jr., Ray and William Jaworski, all of Columbus, and Elmer Chochon of Monroe.

KAVANAUGH--Brother Dies - Dr. Daniel S. Kavanaugh has received word that his brohter, Mike Kavanaugh of Greeley, died last night at St. Catherine's hospital, Omaha. His death was the result of a heart attack. The late Mr. Kavanaugh was also a cousin of Mrs. Carl Herrod of Columbus.

KILLIAN--Rites Held Today At Blair For Mrs. J.N. Killian, 82
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Episcopal church in Blair for Mrs. J.N. Killian, 82, former resident of Columbus, and wife of the late Major J.N. Killian. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery.
    An invalid for several years, Mrs. Killian died Saturday at the Blair hospital, where she had been a patient since early in April.
    Mrs. Killian was born Jan. 23, 1868, near Muncie, Ind. She was married in 1888 at Blair where she was then living and she and her husband came to Columbus the following year.
    Mr. Killian had ben serving as county judge here at the time he left Columbus as captain of Company "K" in the Spanish American war. After his death in 1913, Mrs. Killian lived most of the time in Blair.
    Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. George Bruse of Blair, one son, Lt. Col. James Killian, of Bowling Green, Va., and seven grandchildren. Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Grace McKelvey of Sioux City, Ia., Mrs. Bess Talmage of Blair and Mrs. Blanche Sheldon of Columbus.
    One son, Dr. Leo J. Killian, preceded her in death.

KOSINSKI--Mrs. John Kosinski Dies; Services On Tuesday
    Mrs. John Kosinski, 33, died a few minutes before midnight Friday at St. Mary's hospital, following an illness of about two years. She had been bedfast for nearly three months.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic church, with the Rev. Fr. Chester Cymanski officiating. Interment will be made in the Catholic cemetery here.
    The body will lie in state at the McKown funeral home from noon Sunday until 3 p.m. when it will be taken to the family residence, 1509 Eighth street, there to lie in state until time of the service. Rosary will be prayed at the home at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
    Mrs. Kosinski, nee Josephine Speice, was born June 23, 1917, at Ewing. She was the daughter of Josephine [sic] and Catherine Kudron Speice.
    She lived at Ewing until her marriage to John Kosinski on Sept. 28, 1936, in St. Anthony's Catholic church, after which they moved to California. About two years ago they returned to Columbus to make their home here.
    Surviving are her husband; three sons, Jackie, 13, Jimmy 8 and Freddie 2; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Speice of Ewing; five sisters and three brothers.

JAWORSKI--John T. Jaworski Dies; Funeral Services Tuesday
    John T. Jaworski, 67, retired railroad conductor, died about 6:30 p.m. Friday at his home, following a lingering illness.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic church, with the Rev. Fr. Roch Hettinger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at the Gass funeral home from 11 a.m. Monday until time of the services, and rosary will be prayed there at 8 p.m. Monday.
    Mr. Jaworski, son of Thomas and Josephine Pleczonka Jaworski, was born April 20, 1883 at Tarnov.
    He was married to Barbara Chlopek on Aug, 27, 1909 in St. Bonaventure Catholic church, and they made their home here for a short time. They lived in Omaha for many years, and he was employed as a railroad conductor for the Union Pacific. They returned to Columbus in 1930.
    Survivors are: his wife; one son, Elmer in Chicago; one brother, Charles of Lincoln, five half-brothers, Emil of Inglewood, Cal., Jake of Columbus, Joe of Lincoln, Tom of Springfield, and Lonnie of Omaha; two half-sisters, Mrs. Agnes Emig of Inglewood, Cal., and Mrs. Mary Chochon of Columbus.
    His parents and one half-sister preceded him in death

JOHNSON--Final Rites For Mrs. Johnson To Be Held Monday
    Final rites for Mrs. V.M. Johnson, 56, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Federated church, with the Rev. Franklin Wales, pastor, officiating at the services. Burial will be made in Ridge cemetery at Fremont. The body will not lie in state.
    Mrs. Johnson, a resident of Columbus for the past eight years, died shortly after noon Friday at St. Mary's hospital, following a lingering illness. She had been hospitalized for the past three weeks.
    Nee Clare Elizabeth Planck, Mrs. Johnson was born Oct. 11, 1894 at Blair, the daughter of William E. and Augusta Krafft Planck. She attended schools in Blair, and taught for five years in that community.
    Her marriage to Vivian Martin Johnson took place June 2, 1917 in Fremont, and they made their home in Grand Island until 1942 when they moved to Columbus. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death on May 4, 1949.
    She was a member of the Presbyterian church and Chapter CH of P.E.O. and was affiliated with Andrew Chapter 21, Order of Eastern Star, at Grand Island for the past 26 years.
    Survivors are: her daughter, Mrs. Jack Schultz and one granddaughter Susan Schultz of Columbus; her father, William E. Planck of Fremont; three sisters, Mrs. J. Guy Edloff and Mrs. Harry Cockson of Fremont, and Mrs. Ben Simons of Chicago; two brothers, R.E. Planck and Walter Planck, also of Fremont.
    Besides her husband, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her mother who died May 28 of this year.

JANSSEN--T. S. Janssen Dies; Funeral Services Friday
    Theodore S. Janssen, 65, retired farmer died Tuesday noon at Immanuel hospital in Omaha where he had been a patient for some time. He had undergone surgery there about two weeks ago, and had apparently been progressing satisfactorily before his death.
    Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the home north of Columbus, and at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church, with the Rev. R.L. Ochs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in St. John's cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at the Gass funeral home from 11 a.m. Thursday until 2:30 p.m. when it will be taken to the family home.
    Mr. Janssen, life-long resident of Platte county, was born May 24, 1885. He was the son of the late Johan and Wuebke Becher Janssen.
    He received his education at St. John's parochial school and on Dec. 17, 1908 was married to Frieda Theilen at St. John's church.
    Survivors are: his wife; one son, Ernest of Columbus; five daughters, Mrs. Walter Anderson of St. Edward, Mrs. Ervin Klink of Leigh, Mrs. Floyd Borland of Humphrey, Mrs. Henry Eisenman of Madison, and Mrs. Arthur Heibel, jr., of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ed Hellbusch, and a brother, Richard Janssen, both of Columbus.
    Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother, and one grandchild.
    Memorial wreaths will be received by Ted Rosendahl at the home and by Ervin Neemeyer at the church.
