From week to week The Democrat will publish items of interest concerning the farmers of Platte county, giving their postoffice address, location, possessions in land, improvements and live stock, and such other information as it may be able to glean. It is our intention to traverse the whole county, and miss no one. The publication of such information will be of inestimable avlue to the farmers, the business men and the community in general. Lost Creek Township. Lost Creek township is one of the most populous and valuable portions of the county. It occupies a central position in the county, and contains the towns of Platte Center and Lost Creek, or Dorrance. It is traversed by the O.N. & B.H. branch of the U.P., these dividing at Lost Creek station and running in different directions. We commence with this precinct this week as a matter of convenience. Others will be reviewed as we progress in our work.
JOHN W. M'GUANE. Platte Center. Owns 160 acres in sec. 1, tp. 18, r. 2 west; also 80 acres in sec. 6, tp. 19, r. 2 w. Raised this year 30 acres of corn and 40 acres of wheat and oats. Has 15 cattle, 22 hogs and 5 horses. Settled here in 187_, worth nothing. Now worth about $8,000.
WILLIAM LOWERY. Platte Center. 80, 1-18-2; also 640 acres in tp. 19. Mr. Lowery came here last year, and has engaged in the cattle business. He now has 175 head of cattle, and buildings to accommodate them.
MICHAEL SPELLICY. Platte Center. 160, 1-18-2. Corn 35, oats 27, 80 hogs, 30 cattle. Settled here in 1882. Is worth about $7,000. Lost 110 hogs with cholera last year.
GERHARD GRONENTHAL. Platte Center. 80-1 and 80, 2-18-2. Corn 35, wheat and oats 38, 26 cattle, 13 hogs, 4 horses. Came here in 1872 worth $150. Wroth now, $7,000. Lost 100 hogs last year.
DAVE MURPHY. Platte Center. 80, 1-18-2; also 80, 6-18-1. Corn 55, wheat and oats 20, 30 cattle, 40 hogs, 7 horses. Settled here in 1870.
EUGENE MACKIN. Platte Center. 80, 2 and 80, 11-18-2. Good crops. 25 cattle, 5 horses, 75 hogs and 1 fine Norman stallion. Settled here in 1873; worth then $200. Worth now, $8,000. Lost 60 hogs last year.
HENRY SCHUMACHER. Platte Center. 80, 2-18; also 80, 35-19-2. Corn 28, wheat and oats 25. 5 cattle, 4 horses, 11 hogs. Came here in 1882 worth nothing. Worth $3,000 now.
MILES COSTALLO. Platte Center. 120, 3 and 80, 10-18-2. Corn 40, wheat and oats 25. 16 cattle, 6 horses, 10 hogs, 50 young apple trees. Lost 30 hogs in 1885. Settled here in 1880. Worth about $5,000.
PATRICK CAREY. Platte Center. 40, 3 and 80, 10-18-2. Corn 30, wheat and oats 40. 13 cattle, 6 hogs. Lost 45 hogs last year. Came here in 1871 worth nothing. Wroth about $4,500 at present.
M. M. WILLIAMS. Platte Center. 120, 3-18-2. Corn 45, wheat and oats 25. 1 good team mules. Came here in 188_ with $1,200. Worth $3,000 now.
WM. LOSEKE. Platte Center. 280, 4-18-2 and 160, __19-2. Corn 75, wheat and oats 70. 75 cattle, 78 sheep, 7 horses, 60 hogs. Mr. Loseke settled here in 1876, having about $300 at that time. He is now worth about $13,000.
EDWARD ROGAN. Platte Center. 200, 4-18-2. Corn 35, oats and wheat, 90. 36 cattle, 10 horses, 5 hogs. Lost 100 hogs in 1885. Settled here in 1879, worth $3,000. Has increased his wealth to $6,000.
MARTIN BLOEDORN. Platte Center. 200-5 and 6-18-2. Nice crops. 6 cattle, 2 horses, 40 hogs. Came here in 1872 with $4,000. Worth now $11,000.
LAWRENCE ENZMINGER. Platte Center. 120-5 and 6-18-2. Corn 40, wheat and oats 20, barley 5. 9 cattle, 12 hogs. Lost 20 hogs last year. Settled here in 1881, worth $30. At present worth $2,500.
WM. BLOEDORN. Platte aCenter. 240, 5-18-2. Mr. Bloedorn does not farm this himself, as he is engaged in business in Platte Center. He came here in 1872, with $200, and is probably worth $15,000 at present.
AUGUST SMITH. Platte Center. 160-6-18-2. Corn 75, wheat and oats 24. 16 cattle, 3 horses. Hogs are now dying with the cholera. Settled here in 1873, worth nothing. Worth $4,000 now.
P. F. KETELSON. Platte Center. 120-8 and 9-18-2. Good crops. Nice young orchard. 17 cattle, 5 horses, 14 hogs. Lost 90 hogs recently. Settled here in 1867, worth $200. Now worth $5,000.
FERDINAND KELESON. Platte Center. 120, 8-18-2. Has 50 acres of corn, 20 hogs and 2 horses. Came here in 1885.
CORNELIUS VAN ALLEN. Platte Center. 80, 8-18-2. Corn 40, wheat and oats 40. 5 cattle, 2 horses, 40 hogs. Came here in 1878.
CHRIS. MORTNS. Platte Center. 80, 8-18-2. Corn 27. 9 cattle, 2 horses, 5 hogs. Lost 52 hogs with cholera recently. Mr. Mortns came here in 1868 with nothing. Worth $3,000 now.
P. DESSENDORF. Platte Center. 240, 5 and 6-18-2. An excellent farm. Corn 50, oats 30, potatoes 1. 40 cattle, 19 sheep, 17 hogs, 8 horses. Lost 70 head of hogs with cholera. Settled here in 1874, worth $200. Now estimates his wealth at $6,000.
CARL KEMENSKA. Platte Center. 40, _-18-2. 1 cow, 2 horses, 5 hogs. Settled here in 1882.
CARSTEN PETERSON. Platte Center. 160, 8 and 9-18-2. Corn 65, oats 20. 40 cattle, 4 horses, 17 hogs. Lost 150 hogs with cholera. Came here in 1871 with $50. Now worth $7,000.
M. J. REAGAN. Platte Center. 200, 9-18-2. Corn 50, wheat and oats 50. 112 cattle, 20 hogs. Cholera killed 40 hogs. Settled in 1885.
MRS. JOHANNA REAGAN. Platte Center. 160 acres in sec. 9-18-2. Has 10 head of cattle.
ANDREW PETERSON. Platte Center. 80, 9-18-2. Corn 45, wheat and oats 16. 4 horses and 9 hogs. Has a fine young orchard. Came here this year.

WALTER JEWELL. Platte Center. 160, 24 and 140, 25-18-2. Corn 100, wheat and oats 115, 75 cattle, 13 horses, 190 hogs. Lost 40 with cholera. Mr. Jewell located here in 1880, worth $100. Now enjoys the possession of property worth $14,000. He is making a fine success of his business.
