Photos of the Beckwith and Munter Families

The pictures in this group were submitted by Alice E. Berger (BERGERACEY@aol.com). If you have more information or are connected to this family line, please contact her.

According to Alice Berger: My great grandfather John Munter and his wife Lena (Wickbolm) moved to Oconee, Platte County, Nebraska after they had been in America for awhile, having come from Sweden. (I don't know if they had sponsors or not.) He purchased land on the Loup River area (both sides of the river). NE 1/4 Sec 12 Town 17 Range 3 West. Later he sold that and bought property in Monroe, Nebraska, where he set up a furniture and harness business and purchased a home in town. (Which I have yet to find) He died in 1901 and Lena remained between Monroe and Genoa, Nebraska until she died in Genoa in 1927. (I think she moved to Genoa after 1907. Her burial site has not yet been found.) Their son Peter was born in America and was 15 and living with them when "old" John died. After Peter married Etta (Beckwith), they crisscrossed Nebraska and South Dakota until finally moving to Texas.
