NEWSPAPER ARTICLES
The Columbus Era, May 2, 1874
The members of the German Reformed Church propose erecting a neat and suitable house of worship in Columbus during the summer. The site of the new church will be on the northwest corner of the courthouse block, and will be, according to present plan, thirty two feet by forty six feet in dimension, with a sixteen foot ceiling. All classes of our citizens are contributing to this enterprise on the part of our German citizens, many of whom are past the age when to acquire enough of our language to appreciate religious service in English. The committee to solicit contributions for this purpose are Messrs. V. Kummar, Jacob Ernst and Henry Gass of Columbus. We had the pleasure of meeting with the Rev. Mr. Shreck, the German minister engaged in this work, and who has recently located in this place.
