P.H. Nelson who has been ill all winter died this evening at 7:30. The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon at three o’clock.

The funeral of P.H. Nelson, one of the pioneers of this vicinity occurred this afternoon. He was buried in the family lot in the old Plainview cemetery. The mourning ones have our sympathy.

P.H. Nelson died at about 7 o’clock p.m. Monday. He had been very ill all winter and owing to old age his recovery was not expected. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. M. Leidy Wednesday at 3 o’clock p.m. C. M. Hall came up from Lincoln Tuesday to attend the funeral.

L. M. Norton, father of Mrs. E. P. Tatge, who died at his home at Oakdale on January 4th, was born at Grand Rapids, Michigan, a few months over 69 years ago. He was a Civil War veteran, enlisting in Co. E, 5th Iowa cavalry and as honorably discharged at the close of the war. In 1887 he moved to Plainview where he engaged in the real estate and loan business. During his residence there he served as deputy Sheriff of this county. In 1891 he moved to Oakdale where he lived until the date of his death, with the exception of two years when he homesteaded in Keya Paha county. He was one of the oldest Odd Fellows in the state. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. E. P. Tatge of this county. The esteem in which he was held by the entire community was attested by the large number who attended the funeral service last Thursday to pay their last tribute to the deceased.

Luman Munger Norton died at his home in Oakdale aged 69 years, 4 moths and 3 days. The early years of his life were spent near the place of his birth. Later he moved with his parents to eastern Iowa where he grew to manhood. During the civil war he enlisted in Co E, 5th Iowa Cavalry and was honorably discharged at the close of the war. He was united in marriage to Nancy Caroline Shephard who survives him. To this union four children were born. Two sons died in infancy and Mrs. Jennie Kesling at Bartlett, NE, February 25, 1912. In 1887 he moved to Nebraska and settled in Plainview. He moved to Oakdale in the fall of 1891. He was a member of Oakdale Lodge No 113, I. O.O.F. and Kilpatrick Post, GAR. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Jessie Tatge of Randolph, Ne, two brothers and two sisters, M. A. Norton of North Bend, Oregon, Oscar Norton of Laraca, NE, Mrs. Addie Cotant and Mrs. Lillie Mattos of Los Angeles, CA.
