Mr. Weston was born in Pompey, NY on the 25th day of May, 1806, was married 25 Aug., 1825 and enjoyed the ups & downs of married life for over 71 years. He and his wife have been residents of NE for about 25 years and was well respected by all who knew. The deceased leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss. The funeral services were conducted from the house Sunday afternoon, Rev. Wilson of the M.?. church officiating after which the remains were interred in the Bennet cemetery. She was born in 1805 which made her at the advanced age of 95 years. She has always enjoyed excellent health. Her husband died about two years ago. Their marriage life together extended over 65 years. She has made her home of late years with her son, P.E. Weston, who lives two miles northeast of town. Weston was born at Elmira, NY, 18 Sep., 1842 and passed away at his home in Panama, 27 August, 1929, nearly 87 years of age. He enlisted for service in the Civil Was at Chicago in the 88th Infantry, Company G and served the full three years. He was mustered out at Petersburg, VA. A few years later he married Josephine Colson and they moved to WI. Six children were born to them all of whom survive. They came to NE in 1878 and moved on to a farm north of Panama, where his wife died. He later moved to Panama and was married to Mrs. Mary Ewing. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, 6 children, Ervin of Gibbon, Mrs. Stella Hamilton of Bladen, Mrs. Addie DePeal of Orchard and Mrs. Eva Hitchcock , Mrs. Minnie Frye and Miss Ella Weston of this vicinity, 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and a host of friends. He was a member of the G. A. R. at Bennet where he was given military honors at his funeral.........Funeral services were held at his home and burial was in the Bennet cemetery, Rev. WILSON died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nannie Beerup, in University Place at 12:15 p.m. today, aged seventy-five years. Woods, wife of the chairman of the board of the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph company, died late Tuesday, after a long illness. Mrs. Woods was born Nelle Shreves Cochrane in Bushnell, Ill., on Dec. 1, 1870. She was the daughter of Thomas and Hannah Hartman Cochrane. She moved with her family to Lincoln in 1884. Her father was in the grain business for many years with his son Manning. At the turn of the century he was a partner with William H. Ferguson. In 1905, he created the Cochrane Construction company with his son, William S. Mrs. Woods graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1893 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and was very active in student life. She married Frank H. Woods, second son of Col. and Mrs. Fred M. Woods on Oct. 19, 1894 at St. Paul Methodist church. Mrs. Woods was devoted to many civic and club activities. She was a life member of the Lincoln Woman's club, and was a member of the building committee that selected its present site at Fourteenth and L streets. She was also a long-time member of the Y. W. C. A. Mayor Charles Bryan appointed Mrs. Woods to serve as a member of the board of the Lincoln City Library in November 1915. She was a charter member of the Lincoln branch of the American Association of University Women. During World War I, she led groups of women in preparing bandages, surgical dressings, and supplies for the Red Cross. After her marriage she joined the First Plymouth Congregational church, where she was an active member. She was also a member of the Copper Kettle, the Fortnightly Club, and with Mr. Woods a member of the Patriarchs. She was a long-time member of the Lincoln Garden Club. With her husband and sons, Mrs. Woods helped found the Woods Charitable Fund. Mrs. Woods is survived by her husband, Frank H.; three sons, Thomas C., president of the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Co., Henry C., and Frank H. Woods jr.; a sister, Nelia Cochrane Quick; two nieces, Miss Ruth Cochrane, and Mrs. Helen Cochrane Teal; a nephew, William T. Cochrane; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Received bachelor and master of music degrees from Oberlin College. A performer and teacher of cello, Mrs. Work was recently honored as the longest serving member of the Lincoln Symphony (54 years). She was a longtime faculty member at both the University of Nebraska and Union College, teaching cello and music theory. She numbers among her former students Marc Johnson, internationally renowned cellist of the Vermeer Quartet, as well as professors of cello at Penn State University, Iowa State University, the University of Northern Arizona and many orchestral and free-lance musicians. She was also a longtime member of the Lincoln String Quartet, the Omaha Symphony and many music clubs and organizations. She has been honored as Teacher of the Year by both the American String Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association, Nebraska Chapters.
