Mrs. Edythe ORME The Lincoln Star May 9, 1944 (Tuesday) Mrs. Edythe Cressey Orme, died in Lincoln Monday evening. Mrs. Orme was a resident of Lincoln 33 years and a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and altar guild. Surviving are her husband, Emmett W. Orme; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Orme Cochrane; her mother, Mrs. W. H. Cressey, three sisters, Mrs. Betty Petsch, Mrs. A. C. Gaines, and Helen Cressey; and three brothers, Clark C. Cressey, John C. ORME The Lincoln Star June 28, 1958 (Saturday) Funeral arrangements are pending for Mr. Emmett W. Orme who died on Friday. Mr. Orme was active in Lincoln business and civic affairs. He was president of United Insurance from 1943-1955, when he retired. Before 1943 he was an executive at that company. Mr. Orme was a native of Nodaway, Iowa. He was a member of the Lincoln Country Club, the University Club, and St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. He was also a member of Lincoln Lodge #19, AF & AM, Scottish Rite, the Shrine Temple and the Royal Order of Jesters. Surviving are his wife, Fern Hubbard Orme (former city councilwomen); a daughter, Mrs. Betty Orme Cochrane; a brother Earl Orme; two grandchildren, Edythe and William Cochrane; and several nieces and nephews. Submitted by DCZSN1@aol.com OWEN - Howard A. Owen Former resident of Memphis Dies Howard A. Owen, 64, of 1324 South 13th, Lincoln, died there Saturday morning, May 23, following a lingering illness. Mr. Owen was reared in the Memphis community and had spent most of his life there. He had a host of friends who regret to learn of his passing. Howard Alvin Owen was born on a farm 1 1/2 miles north of Ashland on Sept.21, 1888. He was the eldest son of Thomas E. and Cora F. Owen. His death on May 23, 1953 followed an illness of nearly five years caused from several strokes, the first of which he suffered on May 30, 1948 and the last one on May 11th. When a boy he moved with his parents to a farm a mile north of Memphis, where he grew to manhood. He was married March 5, 1914 to Mary S. Grauerholz, and to this union five children were born, two of them dying in infancy. Mr. Owen attended church and Sunday school in Memphis, and was a kind and devoted husband and father. He served as a member of the Memphis school board for several years and was always willing to help in any way in the community. In March 1931, he moved his family to a farm near Hickman, where they lived until 1936 when they moved to Lincoln. His death occurred at his home there. He was preceded in death by his sister Maude Hall. The survivors include his wife, Mary; three children, Ellen (Mrs. Alfred Bowers) of Wichita, Kansas, William H. of Lincoln and Robert E. of the U. S. Navy and now stationed overseas; three grandchildren, a brother Floyd S. of Roca, other relatives and many friends and neighbors. The funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27 at the Marcy chapel. Burial was made at the Ashland cemetery. Rev. Roker of Lincoln officiated. Submitted by Kathie Harrison OSBON-OWEN - Ashland Gazette (Nebraska) May 26, 1960 - Mrs. Frank Owen Rites at Cedar Hill are Held Friday - Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Owen, 73, of Lincoln, who died Sunday morning, May 15, at the Lincoln General hospital after an extended illness, were held Friday afternoon at the Cedar Hill Methodist church. The Rev. C. A. Burt officiated. Marjorie Mattson Smith furnished the music. Pallbearers were Cecil Luthultz, Rodney Beck, Cecil Lutholtz Jr., Cloyde Bauer, Jerry Schoeneman and Doyle Winfrey. Umberger's Mortuary of Lincoln was in charge. Burial was at Cedar Hill. Lula Bell Osbon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moore Osbon was born Feb.6, 1887 at Red Oak, Iowa. She was raised at Greenwood, where she joined the Christian church. On Dec. 21, 1905 she married Frank Orval Owen at Lincoln. Five daughters and one son were born to them. They farmed west of Ashland for 14 years, then lived at North Platte for 24 years and in 1946 moved to Lincoln. She is survived by her husband Frank; son Frank Owen of North Platte; five daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Inez) Wendling and Mrs. Veneas Lutholtz of Lincoln; Mrs. Cecil (Fern) Middleton of North Platte, Mrs. Pearl Neve of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Melvin (Lona) Shipps of Ralston; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Osbon of Boulder, Colorado; and one sister, Mrs. Cora Mae Hurlbut of South Sioux City.
