KOONTZ - Mrs. Koontz, wife of F. S. Koontz, of Roca, died very suddenly at her home Sunday morning, from heart failure. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Abels of Hickman, after which the body was laid to rest in Roca cemetery. Julia Ann Beall was born at Montrose Ia. November 7, 1837; died March 23, 1913 aged 75 years 4 months and 16 days. While yet small her folks moved to Galena Ills. where she lived with her parents until August 13, 1862 when she was married to Francis S. Koontz and resided in Galena until the summer of 1870, when they moved to Nebraska on a homestead four miles east of Roca, where they made their home until fourteen years ago when they moved to Roca where they have since resided. To them were born nine children; five boys and four girls; three of them preceding her to the better land. Six children with her husband are left to mourn her loss. The surviving children are Mrs. Wm. Kirk of Adams, Neb; Clements R of Parsons, Kansas; Edward J. of Lone Tree, Wyo; Mrs. Creighton Harper of Roca; Joseph H of Watkins Mont; Leroy B of Crook Col. A faithful wife a devoted and loving mother; her husband, and children and hosts of friends feel that their loss is her eternal gain. Died at his home in Roca, Neb Mar 8, 1915 age 75 years 8 months and 22 days. He came to America when 15 years of age, with his mother, brothers and sisters, (their father having been dead some years). They located at Galena Ill. He was married to Julia A Beall Sept 13, 1862. To this union were born nine children, five boys and four girls. Six of the children survive him and deeply mourn the loss of a kind and loving father. Mrs. Wm Kerk of Adams Nebraska; Mrs. Creighton Harper Roca; Clemenz of Sioux Falls, S D; Edmund of Lone Tree Wyo; Joseph of Watkins Mont; Leroy of Crook Colo. Mr. Koontz enlisted in the Union army as a volunteer in 1862, and served his country for three years. With his wife and family he moved to Nebraska in 1870 and took a homestead four miles east of Roca where they resided for thirty years. They experienced many hardships holding their home through the grasshopper time. Their house at one time was blown away in a storm. In 1900 they moved to Roca to spend their declining years. The sudden death of his faithful wife of more than fifty years, occurred two years ago on Easter Sunday. He never ceased to mourn for her and in his past illness kept asking for her and said repeatedly he wanted to go where she was. Their friends often remarked their home life was ideal. He commanded respect of all by his honesty and sterling integrity. A host of friends mourn the loss of a kind friend and neighbor.
