HENRY VALENTINE FRAZER Henry Valentine Frazer was born September 1, 1828 at Newcastle, Henry county, Indiana. He was the son of Simeon Hays Frazer and Rebekah Valentine Frazer. He grew to manhood in Indiana, and was married on September 20, 1851 to Mary Isabel Boon at Kadiz, Indiana. In 1853 he moved to Pella, Iowa, in which state he resided until 1838. In the year 1881 he moved with his family to Boone county, and after a residence of seven years there he moved to Ravenna, Neb. It was there, in 1908, when his wife, his faithful companion for fifty-seven years, died. Her remains were brought to Lincoln and interred in Wyuka Cemetery. Since that time he made his home with his daughter, Viola E. Rankin, at University Place, Neb. Early in life he became a professing Christian and united with the Baptist church at Ravenna. Both he and his wife were members of the Congregational church to which they both belonged until their death. The deceased leaves one brother, William H. Frazer, of Spearfish, S.D., and one sister, Mrs. Martha Trickey of Iowa Falls, Ia. He had five children, four of whom are still living. They are, W. O. Frazer of Newton, Ia., Mrs. Evaline Viersen, deceased; Mrs. Alice Kelly, of Omaha, Neb.; Milton D. Frazer of Pacific Junction, Ia.; and Mrs. Viola E. Rankin, of University Place, Neb. There are also sixteen grandchildren living. Of the grandchildren four were present at the funeral service. Dr. Earnest Kelly with his wife from Omaha, Dr. John Kelly from Central City, besides Charles and Isabel Rankin of University Place. On Monday morning, July 11, 1921 at the early hour of 3:30 o'clock, just ninety-two years, ten months, and ten days since the day of his birth, God called him home. Thus closed a long, but an active and vigorous life. Not many of us may hope to live to such a ripe old age. For many years he has had the distinction of being the oldest person in this community. He loved the trees and the flowers, and cheerfulness was one of the prominent traits in his character. His genial face will be missed by his many friends as well as by his large circle of loved ones who are left. The funeral was conducted by Rev. James B. Brown Wednesday afternoon after which the body was laid at rest by the side of his wife's remains in Wyuka cemetery.
