Lancaster Co. NEGenWeb Project
The Yankee Hill Cemetery Association has provided the following list of burials
& information. Yankee Hill Cemetery is one of the oldest, if not the oldest
cemetery in the Lincoln, Nebraska area. It is located at 1100 West Pioneers
Blvd. It is non-profit, governed by an association board consisting of nine
unpaid members. It is a beautiful county cemetery, most of which has never been
tilled and wild flowers bloom abundantly. It is a cemetery that still has room
for a lot more burials and is one of the few locally that still allows upright
tombstones.
As with most older cemeteries, there were periods of time when record keeping
was at a minimum and there was also a fire which charred some of the record
book. The cemetery board is trying to complete the records by reviewing mortuary
records and obituaries from local papers. In some cases there are differences
between obituary information, the original burial book information and headstone
information. Being on this list in no way guarantees that person is buried in
Yankee Hill Cemetery or in that spot. It is merely a reprint of the information
that we have, accurate or inaccurate as it may be. When there is a headstone,
the location on the list is that of the headstone, not necessarily where that
person is buried.
