Mahanna, Mrs. Jane 1833-1896
Obituary
The east bound train over the B. & M. on Wednesday brought to our city for burial the body of Mrs. Jane Mahanna, who died at her home in McCook late on Sunday evening, the 8th inst.
Mrs. Mahanna was born in Canada on the 14th of October, 1833. During her infancy her parents moved to Ohio, and later to Illinois, where she was married to Mr. John S. Mahanna on the 17th of January, 1848. From Illinois she went with her husband to Missouri, thence to Iowa, and finally some ten years ago to Nebraska. Most of this time they have resided at McCook. Her husband and seven children remain to mourn her loss. One son, Mr. Geo. B. Mahanna, formerly resided in Minden. Mrs. Andrew Ibsen, of Minden, is a daughter of the deceased lady. Mrs. Mahanna was a member of the M. E. church at McCook, and was a woman of rare Christian grace and loveliness of character. Her death occurred suddenly, but it found her ready.
One the arrival of the train the funeral party was at once conducted to the M. E. church, where a funeral service was conducted by Rev. O. R. Beebe. Those coming from McCook were the husband, J. S. Mahanna, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ibsen. Mr. Samuel Mahanna of Kansas, and Miss Clare Bonnot of McCook, an intimate friend of the family.
