Hansen, Mrs. Caroline 1844-1914

Death of Mrs. Caroline Hansen

Mrs. Caroline Hansen passed away at the home of her son, Hans A. Hansen, three and one half miles south of Norman, on Wednesday, April 1, 1914, after an illness of one week from a complication of diseases.  Two sons, Hans A. Hansen and Chris Hansen, both residents of Kearney county, survive her, together with their families, consisting of the daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. One sister living is Denmark is also left.

Mrs. Hansen was born in Denmark on March 18, 1844, and was married in the old country in 1872 to Morton Hansen.  Seven children were born to them, four girls and three boys, all dying before the mother except two sons.  The husband and father died eight years ago, and since that time Mrs. Hansen has made her home with the sons.

The family came to America in June, 1887, settling in Kearney county, Nebraska, the home being located five miles south of Minden.  She was confirmed in the Danish Lutheran Church at the age of fourteen and had since been a consistent, earnest Christian, living near to her Christ and proving her faith by daily good deeds.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 2, at Fredericksburg church, at one o’clock in the afternoon, being conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. P. Jensen.  Mrs. Jensen furnished organ music during the service.  Interment was made in the Fredericksburg cemetery.

The remains were taken and laid to rest in the Fredericksburg cemetery. Rev. Jensen conducting the ceremonies.

We have lost our darling mother,
She has bid us all adieu,
She has gone to live in Heaven
And her form is lost to view.
Oh! That dear one, how we loved her,
Oh! How hard to give her up,
But an angel came down for her,
And removed her from our midst.

Mr. Marius Hansen, family and relatives wish to thank friends and neighbors for the kindness and sympathy they have shown in our bereavement.
