North Platte Man
Weds Minden Girl


The Minden Courier gave the
following account of the wedding of
Miss Watt, of Minden, to Elmer
Stephens, teacher of mathematics in
the North Platte schools. Mr. and
Mrs. Stephens arrived in this city the
early part of this week.

Last Wednesday afternoon at three
o'clock at the commodious home of
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Watt was
solemnized, In the presence of fifty relatives
and friends, the marriage of Miss
Gail, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Watt, to Mr. Elmer Stephens of Kearney.

After the singing of "I love You
Dearly" by Misses Ruth Pattison and
Willa Watt, the Lohengrin Wedding
March was played by Miss Elsie Jane
Dayton of Alma. To the strains of
the march the bridal party, attended
by Miss Theo Stephens, sister of the
groom and her finance Mr. Leon Porter
of Kearney and by Master Preston
Tidvall and little Miss June Porter as
ring bearers took their stand within
a balcony which was almost hidden
with smilax and flowers where the
double ring ceremony was preformed
by Rev. I. C. Rankin pastor of the
United Presbyterian church.

The bride was beautifully gowned
in sheer organdie over charmeuse and
carried the traditional bridal bouquet.
After congratulations, an elegant two
course luncheon was served.  Later
in the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs.
Stephen, accompanied by friends,
autoed to Kearney to assist in the
marriage of Miss Stephens and Mr.
Porter which occurred the same evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Stephens will visit
friends In Iowa for a short time, after
which they will go to North Platte
where they are In charge of a Boys' Scout
Camp for the summer months.
In the fall they both expect to teach
In the Junior High at North Platte.

Mrs. Stephens home has always
been in Kearney County and she
numbers her friends by the score; Mr.
Stephens is a teacher well known In
Nebraska and his successful work
among boys is well recognized. A
host of friends extend their best
wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Stephens.

The out of town guests were Mrs.
Alice Stephens, mother of the groom,
Miss Theo Stephen, Mr. Levi Porter
and Mrs. Arvid Melina, all of whom
reside in Kearney, Mr. and Mrs. Jas.
Lawson and James Lawson, Jr., Mr.
and Mrs. H. P. Treadwell and sons
Howard and Kenneth of David City,
Miss Emma Heliker of Holdrege, Miss
Elsie Jane Dayton of Alma, Miss Minnie
Rust of Axtell and Mr. R S.
Stephen of Central City.
