10-28-01Teacher, 104 Drenda A. Roe Turner Mattei, 104, a teacher, died Saturday in San Marcos, Calif. Services will be at 2 p.m. today 10/26 at Olinger Magnolia Mortuary, 6601 E. Colfax Ave., Denver. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
She was born July 10, 1897, in Hayes County, Neb. In 1943, she married Fred A. Mattei in San Diego. He preceded her in death. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Hayes County and worked for the city of Denver, in manufacturing and at a construction company. Her interests included square dancing, bridge, travel, aerobics, cooking, knitting, sewing and crochet.
She is survived by two daughters, Arlene Turner Fouche, Lake San Marcos, Calif., and Delores Turner Evans, Dana Point, Calif.; a brother, Charlie Roe, Gering, Neb.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
