EMIL FOLDA SKETCH
CLARKSON, COLFAX COUNTY, NEBRASKA
From the 1917 Standard Atlas of Colfax County
Mr. Folda's success in the business world has been a result of persistent effort, and a
sketch of his life and career is worthy of mention. He was born in
Manitowoc, Wisconsin, May 16, 1866, and with his parents came to Colfax County
in 1869. They settled on a farm ten miles southeast of Clarkson. Their pioneer life was similar to that
of others of that time--a sod house for a home, etc., etc. In 1887 Mr. Folda left the farm
and clerked for Frank Folda, an uncle, in a store at Schuyler. In 1889 he entered the Farmers
and Merchants Bank at Linwood, Nebraska, and the following year entered the First National
Bank at David City, Nebraska. In 1893 he returned to Linwood and became cashier of that bank. In 1911 he became cashier
of the Clarkson State Bank, a position he still holds. Mr. Folda is also President of the Colfax County
Bank, at Howells, President of the Linwood Bank, Vice President of Group 2, of the Nebraska Banker's Association,
and is a stockholder in several other banks.
