Other club members participating in the contest were George Dvorak, Robert Malena, Dean Cada, David Yosten, Allen Koliha, Don Cerny and Robert Cerny.

Miss Blackmore Foils Robber...In California
Quick thinking by a daring, nervy woman employee of the Western Union office, 127 E. Broadway, last week partly foiled an armed robber and limited his loot to less than $200. The woman was June M. Blackmore, 25, one of four women employees on duty in the office when the man entered, about 11:20 p.m. Police were told that the soft-spoken bandit walked into the office and behind the counter to the employees area. Miss Blackmore was counting money at a desk and the bandit walked up to her and ordered: "Give me the money." Instead, the woman pushed all the $10 and $20 bills onto the floor. The bandit whipped out a snub-nosed revolver and threatened her. He scooped up some $1 and $5 bills on the table top, but did not attempt to get the larger bills from the floor. The robber than walked over to Geraldine L. Griffin, 30, who was in charge of the office. She also was counting money, and he forced her to hand over a fistful of bills. The other two women on duty were Katherine V. Lent, 20, and Gayle Woodward, 30. No other customers were in the office during the course of the holdup. The bandit made an unhurried escape with the money, which was estimated by Western Union officials as being less than $200.

Man Held By Colfax Officials...For Investigation
Monday the Colfax County officials were holding a man who gave his name as Willie Collin, 38, after he was arrested Friday night driving a stolen truck. Representatives from the Omaha office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation were to take the man into custody, for his violation of transporting a stolen vehicle across a state line. The Colfax County sheriff's office received word Thursday that the truck had been stolen at Kansas City, Mo. that day and on Friday evening a woman called at the office and said she noticed a truck weaving erratically about the highway in a manner which indicated the driver might be inebriated. Fred Kemp, Colfax County deputy and State Trooper Arnold Lisec of Columbus gave chase on Highway 30 toward Columbus. Five miles west of Schuyler, Collin turned north on a country road and went into a ditch. The truck, a two-ton vehicle, was undamaged, and Collin escaped injury. The two officers arrested Collin, who had apparently been drinking heavily. Upon questioning by Colfax County Attorney Francis R. O'Brien, Collin reportedly admitted stealing the truck at Kansas City, and said he was on his way to Ashby, where he was supposed to work on a ranch. Collin told officials that he had served two terms, a total of 13 years, at the state penitentiary in Tennessee.
