CAMERON, ALLAN [Aug 28, 1848 - Oct 1920]
ALLEN [sic] CAMERON CALLED
Allen Cameron, a resident of Schuyler for the past thirty-seven years, passed away Wednesday evening at his home in the third ward after a prolonged illness due to an abdominal cancer. Mr. Cameron was taken ill three years ago and had been confined to his bed for the past two years. He passed quietly into his last sleep at six-thirty Wednesday evening.
Mr. Cameron was a native of Scotland having been born at Partick, on August 28, 1848. On December 17, 1872, he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Boyd. In 1883, Mr. and Mrs. Cameron came to America and became residents of Schuyler, where the remainder of his life was spent. Mr. Cameron was deputy county clerk, county clerk and deputy county treasurer of Colfax county a number of years ago. He also served the city of Schuyler as city clerk for two terms.
The surviving relatives are the widow, and an only daughter, Mrs. William Wertz of Schuyler and four sons, Malcolm of San Marcial, N.M., John of Butte, Mont., William of Sheridan, Wyo., and Roy of Atlantic City, Mont.
[Schuyler paper, Oct 13, 1920 - submitted by Allan's great-granddaughter Nancy Cameron Armstrong](N.B. Allen for Allan is not the only error. I have found that some of the sons did not live in those locations in 1920. Malcolm lived in Kansas City, MO; William lived in Lander Town, WY; and Roy lived in Miles City, MT. Mrs. William Wertz's given name was Jean.)
