PAVEL, LOUIS JOHN
Louis John Pavel Rites Held Tuesday
    Funeral services for Louis John Pavel, 80 of Clarkson were held Tuesday, September 24, 1990 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic church in Clarkson. The Father Walter Nabity officiated. Burial was in the Clarkson Catholic Cemetery.
    He died September 22, 1990 at Schuyler Memorial Hospital.
    Louis Pavel, the son of Joseph and Katherian (sic) (Jonas) Pavel was born May 19, 1910 at Morrison, Oklahoma. He was a 1927 graduate of Clarkson High School and received his teaching degree from Wayne State College and his Masters from the University of Wyoming.
    On May 14, 1940, he and Jeroma A. Fendrick were united in marriage at St. Maryšs Catholic Church in Schuyler. He was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic church, American Legion and the Nebraska State Education Association.
    He served in the Army from 1941 to 1945, where he taught enlisted men to read and write. Mr. Pavel taught school in Clarkson from 1945 to 1970 and was also superintendent from 1957 to 1970 and taught in Howells from 1971 to 1980.
    Survivors include his wife, Jeroma of Clarkson; 2 sons and daughter-in-laws, Dr. Duane and Joyce Pavel of Howells, David and Lynn Pavel of West Des Moines, Iowa, 1 granddaughter Sarah, 1 brother Ed of OšNeill, 4 sisters, Rose Havel of Neligh, Marie (Mrs. Adolph) Bartak of Ewing, Libbie (Mrs. Emerson) Loseke of Chambers and Agnes (Mrs. Ed Lueke of Schuyler).
    He was preceded in death by a sister Anna Pavlis, 4 brothers, Adolph, Joe, Ben and Jack.

KASPAR, OTTO
Otto Kaspar Funeral Held
    Otto Kaspar, 85 died Wednesday September 19, 1990 at Columbus Community Hospital.
    Funeral services were held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Gass-Haney Funeral Chapel in Columbus with the Rev. Tim White officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
    Mr. Kaspar was born June 21, 1905, in Colfax County near Richland to Frank and Anna (Knopf) Kaspar. He attended Colfax County Schools and married Henretta Kroeger August 1, 1928 in Schuyler. He was a lifetime Columbus area resident. He worked as a mechanic and owned and operated Columbus Sand and Gravel.
    Mr. Kaspar was a member of the Izaak Walton League and the National Rifle Association.
    Surviving are three sons, Rolland O. of Bellwood and Donald E. and Jimmie L., both of Columbus; a daughter Marlene A. Jacobson of Bellwood; four brothers, Frank and Rudy, both of Columbus, Eldon of Schuyler and Emerson of St. Edward; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters.

NOVOTNY, EDWARD
Edward Novotny Rites in Stanton
    Funeral services for Edward J. Novotny, 81 of Stanton were held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peteršs Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy Lange officiating. Burial was in the Stanton Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Emil Molacek, Michael G. Wolf, Gayle Brummer, Donald Novotny, Harold Bendict and Robert Henrikson.
    Mr. Novotny died Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk.
    He was born December 23, 1908 in Howells, the son of Edward and Agnes (Polodna) Novotny. He attended Colfax and Stanton County rural schools. On October 3, 1939, he married Arlene Travnicek in Leigh. In 1937 he opened Novotny Tire and Garage Service in Stanton and operated if 30 years. In 1971, he sold the business and conducted a lock and key business out of his home.
    He was a member of St. Peteršs Church, a past member of Stanton businessmenšs club, past member of Stanton Volunteer Fire Department and past Treasurer of Stanton Irrigation Association.
    Survivors include his wife of Stanton; one daughter Sharon of Omaha; and one brother, Ernest of Galveston, Texas.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister.

ROETHER, EMMA
Emma Roether Rites in Clarkson
    Funeral services for Emma Roether, 98 of Dodge, were held Wednesday, September 26, 1990 at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. Rev. Dr. William Nottage-Tacey officiated. Burial in Bohemian National Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Joe Cada, Eugene Dostal, Allan Roether, Slavomir Wedehnal, Jerome Cada, Frank Cada.
    She died September 24, 1990 at Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge.
    She was born May 19, 1892 in Colfax County, Midland precinct to Joseph and Josephine (Sindelar) Cada. She attended District #28 Colfax County and Mrs. Van Housenšs Sewing School.
    On December 30, 1915, she and Louis Roether were united in marriage at Fremont, Nebraska.
    She was a member of New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson and spent her entire life in Colfax County, Clarkson since about 1911. She worked as a clerk in the Julius Wacha General Merchandise Store.
    Surviving is one daughter Almarine (Mrs. Johnny) Mastny of Schuyler.
    She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Houfek, Stella Guthrie, Albie Vitek, Josephine Chudomelka, Rose Hanel, husband, an infant daughter, two brothers, Joseph and Jerry.

SCHLUETER, BERTHA E.
Schlueter Services Held in Norfolk
    Services for Bertha E. Schlueter, 94 of Omaha, formerly of Norfolk were held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The Rev. Ronald Holling officiated with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Leigh.
    Mrs. Schlueter died September 18 at St. Josephšs Villa, Omaha. She was born May 27, 1896, to the late Gerhart and Minna Loseke in Colfax County. She married Herman P. Schlueter. He died in 1948. She lived in Meadow Grove and was employed at the Tilden Hospital as a practical nurse. She later was employed at Valley View Lodge (now Norfolk Nursing Center), retiring in 1968.
    Surviving are three sons, Carroll of Waseca, Minnesota, Leland of Atlantic, Iowa and Dean of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth Busse of Clarkson.
    She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters as well as her husband and parents.

Harold Nolte Dies in West Point
    Funeral services for Harold Nolte, 73 of Lincoln, formerly of West Point were held Friday at 2 p.m. at Stalp Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Douglas and Frazel Westerland officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery. ... (remainder cut off in reproduction).

GOELLER, IDA ANNA
Ida Anna Goeller Rites Conducted
    Funeral services for Ida Anna Goeller, 84 of Pilger, were held Friday September 14 at St. Johnšs Lutheran Church with the Revs. Michael Gruhn and Martin Schmidt officiating. Burial was in the Stanton cemetery.
    Honorary pallbearers were nephews, Kermit Risch, Calvin Reuter, Eldon Meyer, Duane Beune, Burnell Pohlman, Leo Anderson, Paul Goetsch and Dallas Goeller.
    Pallbearers were grandsons, David Goeller, Dennis Goerller (sic), Michael Onnen, James Predoehl, Vincent Predoehl and Andrew Sonneland.
    She was born Jun 22, 1906 in Stanton County to Reinhard and Emilie (May) Schellpeper. She attended Stanton County District 23 School and a Norfolk sewing school.
    On June 2, 1926 she married John Goeller, Sr. They farmed south of Pilger. Mr. Goeller died July 30, 1960. Mrs. Goeller moved to the Stanton Nursing home in January 1989 and died there Tuesday September 11, 1990. She was a member of St. Johnšs Lutheran Church, its ladies aid and the choir.
    Survivors include one daughter Janice Predoehl of Lincoln; one son John of Pilger, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Lydia Goetsch of Stanton, Mrs. Everett (Agnes) Bailey of Arlington, California, Mrs. Olga Pohlman of Stanton, Mrs. Edwin (Anna) Kumm of Norfoflk and Mrs. M. L. (Dorothea) Anderson of Wausa and one brother, Leo Schellpeper of Norfolk.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

SCHLICHTEMEIER, ELLIS OMER
Dr. Schlichtemeier Rites in Spencer, Iowa
    Funeral services for Dr. Ellis Omer Schlichtemeier, 72, were held Sep. 10 at Grace United Methodist church in Spencer, Iowa. Burial with Military Honors was in Riverside cemetery at Spencer.
    Dr. Schlichtemeier was born in Omaha and raised in rural Nebraska. He attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska College of Medicine receiving his MD degree in 1944.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise on Nov. 26, 1988.
    Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David and Alice of Spencer, Iowa; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Michael Drake of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Jean and Joseph Kammermeier of West Des Moines, and Debra and Steven Blaue of Pipestone, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; two brothers and sister-in-law Robert and Helen (Budin) Schlichtemeier and Stuart and LaVera Schlichtemeier, all of Murray, Nebr.
