MALIHA, MARY ANNA [November 10, 1866 - December 3, 1952]
LARGE GATHERING ESCORTS MRS. MALIHA TO HER RESTING PLACE
    Friday, Dec. 5th a large gathering of friends and relatives gathered in Clarkson to pay their last respects to the departed, Mrs. Mary Anna Maliha, who died Dec. 3rd, following a paralytic stroke after being in poor health for nearly six years.
    The deceased was born Nov 10th, 1866, the daughter of John and Anna Minarik, in Czechoslovakia, and passed away in death, at the age of 82 years. She spent her girlhood days in the land of her birth and in 1884 was united in marriage to Andrew Maliha.
    She emigrated to the USA in 1884, and located on a farm in the vicinity of the Tabor church. In 1889 the family moved into the Clarkson locality, settling on the farm southwest of town, now occupied by Jos. Hanak and family. In 1920, Mrs. Maliha retired from the farm and moved to Clarkson, where she made her home ever since.
    Mrs. Maliha was a whole souled, fine lady of the old school. She labored diligently when on the farm, after her husband was taken to the hospital, but always took time to enjoy the companionship of her family and friends, was jovial, good-hearted and kind and her word was always the word of an honorable woman. Like others of the early days, she lived through many discouragements and heartaches, but the jolts of hardship and adversity served to sharpen her abilities and developed a talented self-reliance.
    Her husband, Andrew Maliha, preceded her in death in 1943, after spending many years in the hospital. Two children, Andrew and Albie preceded their mother in death in infancy. One brother died in Cechoslovakia and another brother, John Minarik died seven years ago.
    Surviving are one son Joseph Maliha of Leigh and seven daughters, Josie, Mrs. Jos. V. Vrba and Mrs. Mary Walla of Clarkson, Mrs. Julia Fendrich of Schuyler, Anna, Mrs. Anton Fendrych of this community, Miss Emma E. Maliha of San Bruno, Calif., Tony, Mrs. Mike Zrust of Fremont and Agnes, Mrs. F. J. Jedlicka of Schuyler. She also leaves 53 grandchildren and 68 great grandchildren.
    The deceased was a devout believer in the Catholic faith and was a member of the SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic church of this city, the Altar Society, the Catholic Guild and the Catholic Workman.
    Brief funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 5th. at Miller's funeral home and later at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic church, Rev. C. C. Kubesh officiated. Burial was in the local Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Joe B. Bartes, James Walla, Joe Fendrych, Loren Fendrich, Leonard Zrust and Donald Jedlicka.
    Besides the eldest daughter, Mrs. Jos. V. Vrba, who was confined at St. Mary's hospital in Columbus, all the children and their families attended.

Fielding, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Fendrich, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Fendrich, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fendrich and family, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Oborny and family and Leonard Zrust, all from Schuyler, Lumir Zrust, Mrs. Keith ____, Fremont, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Fendrich, Mr. and Mrs. Mi__ Fendrych and family, Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. _________ and family, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph _____ and family ______, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Groteluschen of Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Maliha, Leigh; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hagemann, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Hagemann, Mrs. Mary Petricek and son, Emil, M___ Rose and Marie Petricek, all of Howells.
