ULRICH, GERTRUDE (WALTER) - [September 14, 1855 - January 26, 1935]
    PASSES AWAY SATURDAY
    Burial is at St. Boniface Church at Monterey, Tuesday Morning
    Mrs. Gertrude Ulrich passed away Saturday, January 26, 1935 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Conrad Kluthe, near Howells. She had been ailing with a complication of diabetes, pneumonia and old age for about three months.
    Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 10 o'clock at the St. Boniface church at Monterey. A Solemn High Mass was offered by Rev. William Klien, Rev. Joseph Stratman and Rev. Grobbel. Burial was made in the St. Boniface cemetery.
    Miss Gertrude Walter was born September 14, 1855 to Theodor and Anna Marie Walter at Westphalen, Eumfenberg, Germany. when 19 years of age she came to America to Quincy, Ill. In 1874, she was married at St. Charles Nebraska to Louis Ulrich. Seven children were born to this union: Theresia (Mrs. Fred Litz), deceased, Theodor, Ferdinand, deceased; Anna (Mrs. Conrad Kluthe) of Howells; Carl, August and Elizabeth (Mrs. Ben Vogel) of Dodge.
    Mr. Ulrich passed away in May of 1914. Before his death the couple lived on the place now owned by August Ulrich, four miles northwest of Monterey.
    Mrs. Ulrich was one of the first settlers of Cuming county. She was most faithful in the Catholic religion and was a member of the Christian Mothers' Sodality of Monterey.
    She is survived by five children, 46 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Henry Kloesner of Creighton.
    Those attending the funeral from out-of-town were: Henry Kloesner, Sr., and son and Mr. and Mrs Henry Gleosner (typo-Kloesner) of Creighton, Fritz Litz of Waterloo, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Litz of Omaha, and Miss Gertrude Litz of Omaha.
