SERVICE IS HELD FOR MRS. STANEK
    A gradual weakening of the heart claimed the life of Mrs. Marie Stanek and she closed her eyes in death Friday evening at her home at 9:15 after an illness of five weeks.
    Her span of life covered seventy-six years and her earthly journey began in Czechoslovakia in 1875. In the years of her early womanhood she was married to Frank Stanek in her native land and they spent the first years of their wedded life among familiar scenes. Later, imbued by the spirit of progress, they left the homeland and with their two children, Frank and Marie, set sail for the United States. They came to Nebraska and settled on land near Dodge, later having invested in a farm in this community north of town.
    Industrious and thrifty, they provided for a growing family of two sons and three daughters, the younger son, Joseph, having passed away some years ago, and were able to lay aside a competency for the sunset years of their life. After the death of her husband in 1933, Mrs. Stanek purchased a residence property in southeast Howells and has since made her home here. Mrs. Stanek lived a useful life, was a kind and loving mother, and leaves many friends who sincerely mourn her passing. She was reared in the Catholic faith, and courage and hope characterized her attitude toward material happenings throughout her allotted years; when her soul passed to the Creator and earth closed on her mortal remains it ended the mortal life of a Christian woman whose memory is cherished for her sterling virtues and unselfish traits.
    Her death has brought deep sorrow to her immediate family—Frank Stanek of Dallas, S. D., Marie, wife of Carl Fellows of Gregory, S. D., Frances, married to Henry Wubbenhorst of Herman, and Miss Agnes, a registered nurse of Omaha. With them mourn four sisters, Mrs. Frances Novak of Clarkson, Mrs. J. E. Sindelar of Howells, Mrs. J. K. Suchan of Omaha, and Mrs. Anton Havel of Snyder; also one brother, Joseph Peroutka of Hartington. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren. Two brothers preceded her in death. To the mourners goes out the sympathy of the friends of the family.
    The funeral services were held Monday morning at the spiritual home of the deceased, St. John’s Nepomuk church, after a prayer service at the family home. Rev. Joseph Drbal officiated also at the requiem mass, assisted by the church choir, and intoned the prayers for the dead with the burial rites at St. John’s cemetery where the remains now rest in the family plot beside the tomb of the husband of the departed. Messrs. John Sracek, Joe Dvorak, Frank Odvarka, P. J. Kulhnanek, Josef Drahota and Carl Ritzdorf served as pall bearers.
    Rest and repose to the soul of the departed in the life beyond.
    Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral services were Carl Fellows and family of Gregory, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stanek of Dallas, S. D., Henry Wubbenhorst and family of Herman, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Stanek and daughters, Misses Agnes and May, of Walthill, Mrs. Frank Srb and Mrs. Agnes Odvarka of Clarkson, Mr. and Mrs. John Baerbauhm of Wisner and Miss Agnes Stanek, R. N., of Omaha.
