DEICHMANN FAMILY GROUP SHEET

HUSBAND: Arthur Deichmann
BORN: March 15, 1877 Ottendorf, Holstein, Germany
MARRIAGE: March 21, 1900 United States of America
MILITARY SERVICE: He had been in the Military in Germany before immigrating to America at about 1896
DIED: May 1926 Leigh, Colfax Co., Nebraska, USA
FATHER’S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH: Wilhelm Deichmann February 14, 1837 Ottendorf, Germany
MOTHER’S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH: Clara Walburg Abt. 1837 Mallberg, Germany
NOTES: Occupation: Farmer. Immigrated November 03, 1899 Ship Psatricia, arrived in New York Harbor. Lutheran; member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Southwest of Leigh, Nebraska.

Arthur's father is Wilhelm Deichmann (b. 2/14/1837 Ottendorf, Germany - d. 8/1/1917 Cella Ottendorf, Germany). Arthur's mother is Clara Wallborg (b. Mallberg, Germany - d. 1882 Cella Ottendorf, Germany). Clara died presumeably in childbirth or shortly thereafter when Arthur was born. Arthur was an only child of this union and the eldest son of Wilhelm Deichmann. Wilhelm remarried and had other children, but we don't know to whom or when. Christine and Paula or Adilla are possible half-sisters to Arthur. Paul, Hans, Christophe, William Arthur, Arthur William, Fritz, Conrad these are possible half-brothers to Arthur. One was a banker in Ottendorf, Germany. Arthur's children are all deceased.

Arthur is presumed to be the first known Deichmann to come to America as he didn't have any family here that he knew of when he came to America. He was in the Military before he immigrated and came here to get a job and set up home for his pregnant wife, Anna so that when they joined him things would be ready. Most of this info came from his obituary in the Leigh World newspaper.

Arthur's obituary said that his father Wilhelm came to the U.S. for a visit. I found an Ellis Island record close to the date: Wilhelm Deichmann, Celle, Germany, entered on Oct. 7, 1909, on the ship President Grant with departure from Hamburg. Family stories indicate that he stayed about a year before returning to Germany.
