Bruno, Nebraska
Bruno is in the eastern part of Butler county, ten miles from David City, the judicial seat of the county. The post office was established April 7, 1888. Town named for Brno (now in Czech Republic), from which early settlers came. The railroad later changed the name from Brno to Bruno, which was more easily pronounced. The obituary of Frank Dolezal - lists my Grandmother Mary L. (Dolezal) Kaspar and her brother, Frank Dolezal, as still living in Bruno, NE. Mrs. Frank Dolezal, dies 12 Sept 1927 in Omaha, burial was in Bruno. Her obituary contains Kaspar information. Newsclippings of who attended the funeral of Geraldine Dolezal, the daughter of Frank Dolezal and wife of Bruno, Nebr. (doesn't have a date), notes that Mr. and Mrs. Anton Franta and Bill Franta from Abie attended. Burial was in the Bruno Catholic Cemetery. Anna Dolezal moved to Bruno after the death of her husband in 1913. Anna died 25 Nov 1939. Her obituary listed brothers Anton Franta as being from Abie and Joseph Franta of Linwood. Funeral services for Joseph J. Franta were held at the Abie Sokol Hall in 1954. Interment was in the Killian cemetery. He was survived by sons Raymond and Anton L. both of Abie and brother Anton J. of Abie. Franklin L. Brown (my grandfather) was born in Wahoo, Nebr., 5 March 1890 and died 27 Aug 1942. He was the son of Charles and Carrie Fischer Brown and spent his childhood in Butler and Rock Co. Among the relatives attending the funeral service of James A. Brown in 1962 were Mrs. Frank Krov of Linwood (sister of Mrs. James (Pauline) Brown whose parents were Mr. & Mrs. John Madr - don't know from where. Agnes F. Sisel, born 12 Jan 1904 at Touhy, Nebr., married
Joseph Sisel 29 Jan 1922. Agnes died 12 Aug 1963 and her funeral services where held in
Loma. Joseph and Agnes farmed near Brainard, Nebr. Survivors included sons Donald and
Larry of Brainard; and brother Joe Dolezal of David City. Member of WBFA Lodge NE No. 68
